Renaissance Philadelphia Downtown Hotel

My family and I had a wonderful experience at this hotel during Thanksgiving week. The hotel itself has been redone well and the location is excellent; however, what made the stay extraordinary was the staff. The manager was amazing and really looked out for my family’s experience. The rest of the team was also lovely. I recommend this hotel highly and will return.

We came to Philadelphia for a meet up with friends and a weekend of jazz and sightseeing. Our rooms were promptly available, spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed spectacular views of several green spaces and gardens including the Independence National Historical Park. Our location was accessible to many historic sites including the Museum of the American Revolution and Independence Hall. The entire staff including the manager, Cary, were accommodating, customer centered and willing to go the extra mile which enhanced our comfort and made for a very pleasant stay.

I am writing in regards to our experience at first daughter oyster and company. My husband and I were visiting for a weekend getaway with friends. We returned to the hotel for cocktails after dinner and received no service. Upon sitting at the bar around 9:30 no menu was offered. About 15 minutes passed when we were finally addressed by the bar tender. My husband ordered an old fashion and I requested a cocktail menu. Another 15 minutes passed when finally the bar tender returned asking what type of bourbon for the old fashion and offered a cocktail menu. We refused drinks at this point after 30 minutes waiting at the bar. This is a disgrace to Marriott properties! We went to bed and refuse to give this location any more money. It was as if the bar tender did not want any further orders for the night when it was 10pm. We will pick another Marriott location in center city for our next stay as we typically do due to this poor experience.

Upon entry the hotel appears to be sleek and posh. Relatively easy to get too. Majority of the staff were super pleasant and hospitable. Staff was also extremely kind enough to get me into my room early, which I was tremendously grateful for after travelling. At first glance the room was extremely nice. Large and spacious with wonderful views. Some of my challenges during my stay were the fridge smelled, no microwave, ice machine on the 12th floor did not work, my side lamp did not work, the gym is located in the basement, but because of construction it certainly felt unsafe, and to my utter dismay I did not have hot water day1 and half of day2. I was offered a discount or points for the inconvenience which I appreciated, but no hot water is definitely a deal breaker.

First time staying at the property great location staff was wonderful. Want to give a shout out to Carey Hightower he is what good looks like for first impressions walking around through the door the man represents the hotel with excellence!
