The Hollybush Inn and B&B

We thought the breakfast was very poor , even as it was thrown in, we think they would have been better off not serving anything and charging a bit less for the stay . No one was around to ask for extra mugs or more juice as cartons were all empty no water to put in kettle as it had all been used

Everything else was fine , as expected ,! The Chinese was a great bonus to have very nice and very friendly lady who we ordered from Parking was a bit of an issue at school pick up time

The location was good in a very quaint village. The parking was easy and next to the accommodation. The room was a good size and clean. The pub downstairs wasn't noisy at all. The staff were friendly enough and gave us some local recommendations and helped us by finding an iron to use.

The whole place doesn't exactly meet the expectations set by the photos, description or the price. I would describe it as 'basic', the whole attitude seemed to be to provide the bare minimum, but charge for premium. The mattress was very uncomfortable and the bed was quite small considering the large size of the room. There was an industrial fire exit light inside the room for some reason (the kind you find above exterior fire exits) which whirred and illuminated the entire room all night and made it very difficult to sleep. We were then woken up by a strimmer and lawnmower in the pub garden very early which wasn't ideal after a poor nights sleep. There was a kettle in the room to make teas, which was accurate to the description, but we stayed 2 nights and there was no changeover (listing says there are 'housekeeping services') so we just had dirty mugs/towels etc for the second day. The breakfast was appalling - the listing states 'continental breakfast with cheese' (weirdly specific about the cheese but also unnecessary since there wasn't even any). There were some fun-size cereal boxes, UHT milk, cheap bread, cheap long-life brioches, cheap juice drinks (not real fruit juice), 1 flavour of jam sachets, and only instant coffee sachets available. All the cereal bowls were filthy, we had to go and clean them in the pub toilets. There was nobody staffing the place at breakfast so we couldn't even ask anyone about it. The listing indicates that the breakfast is a highlight of the property so this was a big let down. If you're comparing against the google listing too, that is misleading when it comes to the restaurant services available - there is no restaurant, just a Chinese takeaway inside the pub.

Great country pub with good beer. And it has a Chinese takeaway actually in the pub. The room was clean, comfortable and the bed comfortable too.

There was a ludicrously bright emergency light above the room door which I had to drape with a towel to reduce the brightness to comfortable levels. Breakfast was self service and modest but ok.

Just a top all round place to stay. Felt very relaxed

Room was very clean and sufficient for our stay. Lovely bath!!! Staff were very polite and pleasant.

The location

The communication was poor and the fact the staff were not available on site during my stay,then the expectations of breakfast which turned out to be a complete let down with uncleared table no staff present again in the morning! Basic facilities including the bag of bread which had been used as a waste bin by the previous residents which left me without the option of toast it is a lazy form of service in my experience and should not continue i have never experienced anything like this in the uk. My suggestion is avoid this place and continue searching.
