The staff is very friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. Lots of variety to please everyone! The rooms are very comfy and clean.

The Kahler Inn & Suites was quick and convenient for our Mayo Clinic appointments. The front desk staff named Robin was very kind and was one of the most hospitable Kahler staff members we had the pleasure to meet. Robin was patient and nice and helped us find the room type our dear Mom needed to rest after Mayo Clinic appointments. Thank you Robin and Kahler staff.

Room was fine, as was breakfast

A little short on in-room amenities - in-room coffee. etc. Parking ramp is tight

My husband and I stayed in our room together prior to my hip replacement surgery. He kept the room for the nights after my surgery while I was in the hospital. Upon our Sunday afternoon check-in, we verified that the room was accessible with a roll-in shower and safety bars. The desk clerk handed us the room key cards. We proceeded to the room....when we opened the door, we were appalled to find someone else's suitcases and personal items on the bathroom counter and on the bed. There were no guests in the room. We quickly closed the door and returned to the registration desk. We told the clerk that we really did not want to have "roommates"! The two women working at the desk quietly and quickly searched their computers for another king sized accessible room. We were given new keys and we moved to the new room which was a suite, whereas the initial room was a standard room. We appreciated the larger room with the kitchenette. Neither clerk commented or apologized for the error! I am sure that they did not want the people in line at the desk to know what had happened! The hallways smelled very musty and wet. The room seriously smelled like a VERY dirty locker room, so we quickly opened the window and started the air conditioner. After a few hours, we must have become used to the smell since we thought it had improved. But upon returning to the room after dinner, it smelled HORRIFIC again! We made a trip down to the Eagles Pharmacy and purchased Lysol spray which temporarily helped. The fabric on the couch was quite worn and needed to be cleaned. Other than the smell and the dirty couch, the room was satisfactory with a fine mattress and towels, and it served our purpose during the following days!!!! Our obvious suggestion is for the staff to be EXTREMELY security conscious and also to deep clean the rooms after guests check out. It is concerning that someone could potentially walk into a room using issued room keys and take personal items! The people who had stayed in the original room have NO idea that we were in there with their possessions, and I am sure that they would be very angry if they knew that the desk clerks had given us keys for their room. Last year, I had parked my power chair in the hallway outside of our room for five minutes while we went in to use the restroom. Sadly, someone stole my wallet from the travel bag on the back of the chair. We lost a driver's license, military ID card, passport card, and $200. We should not have left the bag on the chair....and we paid the price of needing to replace all of the ID cards which was a huge hassle. There is NO security code to enter the building or the multiple elevators. Anyone can come and go since the underground parking has two elevators that are completely out-of-sight from the registration desk. My husband heard staff talking about the problems that they were having keeping homeless people from sleeping in the unsecured hallways....again, there are no cameras or codes. You may ask why we stayed there again. It is because the rates are more than $100 less than staying at the Marriott. The ADA rooms at the Marriott have the safety bar placed BEHIND the toilet tank! It is very dangerous for someone with mobility issues. And the restrooms at the Kahler Grand are outdated and not very accessible. Rochester needs to have a thorough investigation of "ADA rooms" and the hotels need to invest in security systems. Of all of the places in the world, I really expect more from the town of the "Medical Destination of the World" that Mayo has gifted to the community.
