Kahler Inn and Suites - Mayo Clinic Area

We have stayed several times -- nothing is more convenient to Mayo with a quick walk through the subway. It is clean, quiet, and beds are comfortable. Carpets are worn; the building is a bit tired in places, and I have reported room upkeep/improvement issues when I check out. The morning buffet is complete, well stocked with hot and cold items. A Mayo rate is available for patients using Mayo services.

Robin Vale, guest services ‘ employee was excellent, She was so kind and helpful to us, Robin had great suggestions on eating places. She offered suggestions on easy ways to navigating to areas of mayo clinic. She’s one of the most helpful guest services personnel I have ever encountered. She’s a true gem. Her kindness and helpfulness made a rather difficult exhaustive day of testing and dr appointments at Mayo Clinic, the shining beam in our day. The hotel location is excellent location right across the street from Mayo Clinic. There is a caribou coffee shop in the lobby to catch a quick coffee in the morning. The hotel room was very clean with comfy beds. The queen suite worked perfectly to relax in after a long day at Mayo. We were on the 9th floor. There is only one elevator that services the 9th floor and we never had a long wait for the elevator. It was very quiet. I’d request staying on the 9th floor again. It’s not a brand new hotel, but the location, underground parking, comfortable beds, affordable suite, make it a win in my book.

It was close to Mayo for our appointment and the valet parking was excellent.

The keys kept not working

The location was great! Staff was great. Rooms were comfy and spacious.

The pool was out of order so we had to walk to the other hotel outside. The subway was closed. Had we been informed about that, we would've rearranged our timeframe. The breakfast room was cold and so was the food. The staff should be checking temps for food safety concerns. Instead of that, they just lifted the lids, I'm assuming to check how much was in there.

I have never experienced a worse hotel stay. Especially the restaurant/bar and server named Ren. She was rude, not only to myself but numerous other patrons. There also were elevator issues as well as issues that went unresolved. People staying there are using patients or visitors of the Mayo Clinic and it is a very difficult time for most. This is not a vacation destination. Because of the treatment I only stayed one night and went to Centerstone Plaza instead. I highly recommend them. Never the Kahler. To this date, they still have not released the charge on my credit card. Another example of poor service
