The Fourth Lock Bed & Breakfast

This is a cute and unusual little place, conveniently located for Halifax airport. The instructions for self check in are very easy, the room is private and there is a little common living room area overlooking the lake, where you can make coffee at any time. The restaurant downstairs seems to be a very popular spot for locals and I ate a very tasty vegan meal there. I stayed here for two separate one night stays and the first night (a Tuesday), the restaurant was closed, but my second night was a Friday and the noise in the room from the restaurant was quite loud. The noise from the road is also very loud, unless you keep the window closed. There is a very large amount of traffic flowing past here and at times it is very difficult to get in and out of the driveway, which was surprising. I stayed in the Lake William room, which does have a partial view of the lake. The room was clean, but the bed wasn’t super comfortable for me. Overall I would recommend here, especially if you are on a budget, as the price is decent.

The area is noisy, but the room quiet. The property’s restaurant is phenomenal! I will certainly be back.

Very dark outside if arriving after dark and although we booked 2 nights there was no continental breakfast left for the second morning

There is a very nice restaurant/pub on the main level with great food and service. We arrived for checkin as advised but the self checkin requires an access code that we had not been provided in advance. After a bit of creative research we tracked down the needed code. That should have been advised through Expedia. Otherwise all was good.

Loved the location. Cute room, very clean. Bed was uncomfortable & low for 2 elderly people. Signage at night was hard to see for the property as well for the B&B main entrance.

The bed was very, very low to the floor, not quite like a mattress on a floor, but very close. Thia made it challenging aa heck to get in and out of bed. This was sold as a bed and breakfast and so our expectations were thar we woild have a reasonable breakfast. What we got was a small basket left in our room that had a muffin, an apple and several sugar-bssed snacks. This was not close enough to being a breakfast, in our opinion. The sounds from the room above us were easily heard in our room and woke us early at about 7 am, which was long before we wished to be awake. We would not stay again at this facility.

Nice spot. Privacy is kind of limited if you get the small room, because there isn’t space in the room to hang out so you end up using the common area. That area is nice, but you’re hanging out with other people potentially. Would be a great place to rent with a group and get both rooms.
