"Perfect chill couple getaway"

This place is the perfect spot to base out of. The room was cute and the hotel is located in the heart of the downtown area. Would highly recommend!

"Underwhelming"

I really wanted to like this hotel, but was unfortunately very underwhelmed (particularly at the higher-end price point). I’ve stayed in other Lark properties without issue, but this location felt frankly like a bad flip. The entire place needs to be painted (literally spackle patching showing throughout the lobby and in our room). We had an oceanview king, which meant we were up 3 flights of narrow steps (which we had to haul our luggage down). There was bubbling, chipping paint throughout our room, areas that were not appropriately clean (large dust bunnies, spilled coffee stain on dresser, etc.), and the overhead lights in our bathroom didn’t work. We informed the front desk of the bathroom light issue immediately upon check in, and then again in response to various “customer service” texts and it was never acknowledged or addressed. The positives of Block Island Beach House were the location, comfortable bed, and tasty food at the restaurant - but overall, I wish I had stayed elsewhere (especially for the 800+ per night we paid)

The room was clean but so small. There wasn’t even a chair or drawer. We had to sit on the bed No where to put clothing Hotel was advertised as beachfront This was not the case.

We were assigned a room in The Gables on the 3rd floor. Very steep stairway but our bags were delivered to our room. The room was ridiculously small. One of us had to sit in the bed while the other got showered and dressed. Shower door only opened a quarter of the way before it hit the toilet. Had to turn sideways to walk between the end of the bed and the tv on the wall. Called the front desk this morning to have our bags carried down and let it ring for 15 minutes and no one answered. For a cost of over $1300 for 2 nights, we expected much more. Terribly overpriced!

"A great in-town getaway with modern conveniences, comfortable bed, and in heart of harbor action."

Location is walking distance from ferry, recently renovated yet still maintains the island vibe, has great views of harbor from back deck. Because it was off season, the restaurant was not open nor was the pool due to maintence issues. We upgraded our room for king bed and more space. Plenty of shops and restaurants within a block or two.

It was not clear when booking that our room was not in the main hotel directly on harbor. We were instead in one of the other three buildings a block away owned by this hotel group, so clarify your location when booking. However, we did use the porch and lobby of main hotel; and the room was very comfortable, clean and spacious.

Initially, we booked the Oceanview King Suit, and a week before we came we were offered an upgrade to the Gables Poolside King Suit, which we took; we were celebrating our honeymoon. When we arrived, we were given the ADA Suite that is positioned on the street, with a window that overlooks the handicap elevator. Apparently there was a water main break up at the Gables location, but still, this was poorly taken care of. The employees have no idea what’s going on, and they also don’t really appear t care. We asked to speak with a manager right away because it’s unacceptable, especially with no notice or explanation as to why they resorted to give us an ADA room… the bed was at our ankles & we had to squat to look into the mirror and brush our teeth…. We didn’t get in touch with a manager until the next afternoon when she decided to come in (we were told by the staff she would be in at 9am, and we had to stand around waiting for her to be told she wouldn’t be in until later). The manager, McKenna, gave us another room, and this one had broken AC unit. We downgraded our room & no discount?We also had a family enter our room one evening because they were given the keys.. The employees treat you as if you’re a bother, if you don’t wanna work and engage with good customer service, go home. I have never written a review before, but this is warranted considering the experience we had. If we ever come back to BI, we definitely will not be staying with Block Island Beach House.

"Underwhelmed"

When we checked in, our suite was in a building down the road (not part of the main building). We got our key and walking directions to our building. When we arrived, we found that we were on the second floor and that we needed to climb a very long, steep, narrow staircase which required several trips to bring up our luggage while grabbing onto the handrail. Why at check in were we not offered luggage assistance knowing the staircase that awaited us? Our room had a bedroom and a sitting room with a sofa. The bedroom closet had 4 hangers (6 if you count the two with robes) and neither room had furniture with drawers. There are no drawers in the entire suite. We ended up using our sofa to stage our clothing. There were other annoyances, albeit minor. The AC worked really well and the bed was great. However at the price point of this hotel, we were underwhelmed and will try a different property in the future.

"Great location, minuscule rooms."

The hotel is in a perfect location 5 min from the ferry, in the middle of downtown and right on the beach. Very friendly service. Cute lobby with resort feel, good coffee, but off season only served 7 to 2. Many good things, but unfortunately the rooms are just too small, cramped and old. This is understandable as it’s an old historic hotel, but really only works if you are only come inside to sleep. Walls need some paint too. Bathrooms also super small, but functional. You can also hear through the walls. The walk up to 2-3 floor is pretty steep. I think the hotel will work if you upgrade to a suite or of your plan on only crushing there at night. In summer, the beach access and the terrace overlooking the beach are definitely major benefits.
