Hyatt Regency Irvine

I would not recommend this hotel. They charge to park and there’s nowhere else you can park. It is in a business complex area and all the other parking is for those businesses. Parking cost $46 per vehicle per night. We had two vehicles and paying for parking is absurd. My tv in one of the rooms did not work. We called for maintenance and after waiting 2 hours and 40 minutes, we left for dinner. Our bathroom was dirty and there was trash in the bin from past guests. The water slide was closed which is why I chose this hotel. Four small bags of chips was $20. Restaurant was okay, not great.

I inadvertently missed the turn into their parking structure and mistakenly parked in the valet spot. I was immediately approached and asked if I was the person causing the trouble. Within momemts the employee who aggressively approached me was accompanied by a peer. He too question if I was an apart of the trouble. I had two men gang up on me as if I was loitering and that I didn't belong. The wort part was one of the gentlemen stated to me I can tell you have been drinking. I replied I had not and he stated that we could find out. It felt like a threat to call the police. Being African American I have never placed the race card but race was an impactor in my treatment. In telling the front desk I got the stereotypical yeah we hear you. My name is Terrance Jackson and I am a former Director of Human Resources Operations for Marriott. In that role a matter of this nature would be non-tolerable. "We can tell you have been drinking." What if I had a medical condition. I didn't see a refund or an adjustment just acknowledgement of the poor behavior. When I asked for the General Managers name I was given a card for a person who is not empowered to create a culture change for the hotel. Life can feel a little overwhelming when you feel discarded. I was lift hurt, shaken, and disappointed. Just an overall horrible experience.

Over the last year, I have been to 5 different Hyatt Regency hotels. This was by far the best one. Everything was just top notch. The hotel grounds were immaculate. The pool area (even though I did not swim) was so nice. Elevator with a view? Got it. Very nice, clean, large room? Got it. Nice shower? Got it. No popcorn ceilings and dingy lighting? GOT IT. For the same or lower price than other hotels in the area you cannot go wrong staying here.

We only stayed here for 2 nights but here are our experiences: PROS: 1. Hyatt Regency Irvine is a new rennovated hotel so everything is new and stunning. 2. Hyatt Regency Irvine has a lounge for Globalist loyalty member like me to access. CONS: 1. There were events every night and their parking lots were overloaded. I had to drive around looking for spots and walked long distance back to my room. 2. I could not leave parking lot on the day I checked out either. I had to walk back to the front desk to get help. There was no issue w/ the parking ticket barcode. The issue was with the parking gate system. I pressed Help, called parking staff but no one answered. I had to walk back to front desk again. The whole thing wasted me 20 minutes just to leave the hotel. 3. There is a lounge for Globalist access but reservation is needed.
