Chicago Lake Shore Hotel

Do not consider this hotel for your safety. Over night they stole the convertor of our car. It cost us $495 to fix it and with no apology from the hotel . The area is dangerous .

Rats in the parking lot. Bugs in the room. Stains on bed spread. We were amazed to discover that there is still such a thing as a smoking room. Disgusting, made our clothes smell like cigarettes.

The electricity was sketchy. We had to flip a main switch to get any of the lamps to work. The lamps were old-fashioned and did not have charger ports. There is no refrigerator or microwave. I wonder if the electricity would not have supported those things. The staff was all very friendly, however, and efficient.

It was an average stay at an average motel. it was confusing to determine which hotel was the one I had booked. There are two hotels budgeted right next to each other. The room was clean, but it smelled funny. The mattress had springs and was very bouncy. Reminded me of my bed from 30 years ago, when I was a kid. I appreciated that it was close to where I needed to be and for the price, I got what I paid for.

This place needs a deep clean.

A solid 3-star hotel. It was neat and clean, felt safe and was convenient to attractions and downtown Chicago. It's one of the few places with onsite parking, which was a major consideration. Nothing within walking distance, but a lot of restaurants and amenities a short drive away.

The property is a old building carpet is old but the employees were really nice and helpful.
