Four Points by Sheraton Elkhart

First off, the room was clean and comfortable. No complaints there. However, when we arrived, we had to wait for the desk clerk to come in from her smoke break outside. The lobby looked like a homeless encampment. Two children running around one without a shirt, carrying his clothes. The way that she spoke to them made me wonder if they weren’t her children. The front desk was frequently unattended with a person outside smoking. We had requested a king bed and ended up with queen accessible room. That part wasn’t that big a deal we understand that happens. When we left in the morning. The coffee urn in the lobby was empty. Clerk said she had filled it at 3 AM. We left at seven. For some reason, their satellite was down, so there was no TV at all the entire time. When I commented to the clerk in the morning, she said I have no control. We did email the manager and the only response we got was sorry, not our standards. You should sign up for rewards points and that will prevent you from getting bumped from your room. We are points members. Not sure we will stay there again.

The rooms and public spaces were fine. But the "restaurant" is so sub par. The kitchen is totally unprepared for the average breakfast crowd. They would be far better off if they put out the usual breakfast buffet. But this table service was terrible. It took 30 minutes to get a breakfast sandwich. UNSAT! Fix that!!!

The rooms were clean and the staff was helpful.

Upon check-in I wish the hostess would have shared information about the hotel. Ex. Breakfast, pool hours etc. without me having to ask.

Newer facility, everything up to date. Beware of getting in and out of shower, very slippery. Shower doors continually open up( not level) Had to jam a face cloth in between shower doors to keep closed. I mentioned to two different staff , and basically could care less. I told them that an older person has a high probability of falling and seriously injuring themselves and could sue them. One male staff told me that they can’t be sued because of some technicality….hogwash ! On other reviews, often stated same problem. It’s true.

When we went to our room, the door was ajar. We entered and found the door jam was broken and we couldn't shut the door. I went to the front desk to inform them, and the individual didn't say anything to me, seemed irritated, and took five minutes to assign us another room--finally handed over the keys without a word.
