Unfriendly staff, not flexible, old run down building. Not a good value for money. Reception staff are not helpful and even trying to charge extra day much more than current price on booking.com......

booked 1 person room. was supposed to be 14m2. but got a room max 8m2. asked a different room, but got same m2. than decided to cancel my stay. friendly philipino staff gave me a 2-person room because of inconvenience. not a problem suddenly. staff was overall customer-friendly. so un-dusseldorf! the rooms are being sold as "soundproof". person who wrote this part on internet must change batteries of his hearing-aid. today! pronto! room: dirty spots all over the carpet gives an unpleasant experience of the room. shower: water falls outside the showercabin, so be preapred to use a few towels on the wet floor. co2-friendly approach? :0/ the hall in front of the door: smelled like a mummy with bad breath after eating a rotten showarma for diner. an 1 hour later check-out could be arranged by receptionstaff without the cleaners waking me up. a big hurray! filled a complain about my experience, but "haha", no cooperation for any kind of solution. cheap place indeed with friendly staff trying to make the best of it. "show us your money, sleep and get lost, tourist. any problems with that? dont visit us next time. we already made our money and after you so many more will follow anyway...."

Very friendly and helpful staff, good facilities and breakfast; the only discomfort I felt was the air in the room, which, hold prior year smoking. Probably the painting would help to get rid of it.

Arrived on early flight. Day in the office. It's 10 pm and my head is under the pillow trying to drown out the loud jazz music coming from some nearby bar. Windows are a bit thin. The elephant in the room above is trying to tap dance to the jazz music.

Good location for walking around the city. Good pub 100m from the front door of the hotel.

Terrible property, not up to the standards of properties I expect to find on Expedia.

Monopol Hotel,very basic but extreemely pleasant and friendly hotel.We were able to share a room for three people.Very comfortable and the Reception first class.A welcome drink of the traditional mulled wine.Morning Breakfast was amazing.Hot breakfast toast cakes cereals and fruit Juices coffee and tea.Will recommend it to everyone and will def go there again

What a horrible hotel! We paid $138/night for a crappy room. I booked for 3 people- 2 adults and a 6 year old child. We were given 2 single beds. "We have no small/rollaway beds," I was told when I asked about one. That's not what your website says. Free wifi?! NOT AT ALL. Breakfast room is not big enough for all people, and poorly laid out. The selection was fine, but not the best quality. The room was small and smelled of cigarettes. The last guests had opened the window and left all their butts on the sill. Also the bathroom handle came off in my husband's hand when we first got there. Our room was located in some sort of "back area". While we were only on the first floor, it was only accessible by stairs, no elevator back there. To get there we had to walk through some sort of added on hallway, past the smoking area and parking lot, on the sticky floor). The hotel is dirty- cobwebs all along all the green exit signs, dust covering the mirrors next to the beds. The carpet in the room was disgusting. The only thing this place has going for it is the location. Monopol Hotel is way too expensive for the quality of the rooms, staff, breakfast. I've slept in worse, of course, but not for that much money. Terribly disappointing experience. We spent as little time in the hotel as possible.

Back in August my wife and I reserved a room for 3 for December ( Christmas market) upon arrival we have been told that we will be staying in a double room ( 2 single beds ) with no possibility to had an extra bed for my 6 yo son . The room was small indeed but also dirty a smelled like smoke ( in a non smoking room )

As there were many sold out properties in DUSSELDORF, I decided to try the Monopol property. As I exited the taxi I realized I had made a poor choice. The property is a tired looking, small lobby, drop off hotel. The check in feels like I went back in time 30 years. I received a key (not a key card) and had to wrangle my bag up a few steps, into the back and on to an elevator from the 60s that barely was large enough to fit me and my bag. The room was not any better. The room is small, which can be okay but not this one. Carpets very stained throughout, no excuse for that. No desk. Poor lighting. Very small bathroom with the smallest soap I have ever seen. Tiny by today’s standards tv. 2 single beds pushed together with no headboard and only 2 pillows. To be fair, I was able to sleep well and shower and move on. Unless you are on a very limited budget like a student, I would look for other options until they upgrade this property.
