Construction, not getting the room we paid for

Property has an area under construction which has rajendra away from the beauty of the location.

We stayed here after booking a room last minute and were incredibly lucky to find availability on a Saturday night. When we arrived to check in, we were greeted by Randy (I believe that was his name), who was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I had been having a rough day and were left scrambling to find a hotel after a terrible experience at another property in San Clemente (don’t ever stay at the Hampton Inn). We ended up canceling that reservation and were stressed trying to find somewhere else to stay on short notice. Randy was kind, patient, and genuinely helpful. He listened to us vent about our experience, made us feel welcome, and went above and beyond to help turn our day around. As an unexpected gesture, he even waived our parking fee, which was incredibly appreciated since we had already lost money on the hotel we never stayed at. Customer service like that is hard to find these days. Randy’s kindness made a stressful situation so much better, and it’s the reason we’ll remember this stay. Thank you for the hospitality!

Hotel is under constructions. However, it was a nice, clean place to stay for 4 nights. The pool opened our last day with an outside bar service. Valet and parking garage are literally in the exact area with the lobby so that was very easy to find.. it is maybe a 100feet walk from the parking garage to the main lobby/rooms... You can valet or self park. With self park you just scan your ticket in and out. Lantern's Edge and little cafe/bistro were open every day. There is buffet or menu breakfast offered. Restaurant was also open for dinner with indoor seating or tables out side near the lobby/fountains. Hotel has a good location with only 20minutes to the main Laguna Beach entrance/location. The staff was friendly and accommodating to us. I would definitely return!

I’ve stayed here many times over the years, decades really, and I’m a fan of the property. But on this last visit (May 2026) they’re under construction, and honestly they really shouldn’t even be open. The majority of the property is closed , there are no services to speak of, and the great patio restaurant and bar are gone. They’re still charging $60 a day for valet parking, but it’s confusing to figure out even how to find the valet. If you self park because you couldn’t find the valet, you’ll instead find yourself with an incredibly long and labyrinthine trek back to the hotel through a construction zone. Once to your room, the Internet speeds are so slow you won’t be able to stream anything, and there’s really no restaurant or bar to speak of (just kind of an awkward little empty room downstairs that has the distinct and unmistakable sour odor of a dirty bar drain) so you’re only option is to get in the car and drive somewhere close by or, as I did, do DoorDash. At around half the price it would’ve been a reasonable deal, but as it was, it just felt sad and creepy to be here while it’s all torn up like this. I can’t imagine how disappointing this would be if you brought your family or a vacation! Even on business, I wish I’d just stayed a Courtyard or something. I’m not sure what their plan is, and hopefully they’ll do the property justice because it is a great one, but they needed to do a much better job insulating guests from all of it, or more appropriately just close down while they do it. The very minimum they should’ve made it clear what one was getting into. All that said, I should add that the staff on the property were exceptionally kind and welcoming, despite (I would imagine) getting an awful lot of complaints from people all day. Hats off to management for keeping the morale of the team up, definitely a highlight of otherwise disappointing visit.

DON’T STAY HERE! Booked through Marriott web site (Life time Titanium Member). Nowhere on the website did it state the hotel was under a MASSIVE renovation. Lobby CLOSED, Restaurants CLOSED, construction Noise everywhere to include past 5PM. Dirt and debris everywhere. Construction Fences everywhere. When i questioned front desk why this is not stated anywhere on the hotel website during reservation, no excuse.

Old and outdated. They’re under construction , which is really annoying and they don’t say it anywhere when you book. Price is not worth the experience.
