ibis Caen Centre

good city center hotel

We were an overnight only en route to the Caen ferry port, so Ibis in the town centre sounded great. Reception was friendly and the hotel was clean, if very functional - not attractive at all. The room was very small, but the bed was comfortable and quit big with good linen. The bathroom was also functional and big enough with a good walk in shower. As always the towels were tiny and only one each was provided. When asked the reception happily gave us extra ones. On the whole such a hotel is what it is and it was clean, central with its own secure car park. The car park is always a bonus when you have a car full of your stuff. We usually go out to eat, looking for a local restaurant serving local dishes. Where we were in the town there was nothing like that that we could find. With the ferry port so far from the town centre I don't think we will repeat the stay in Caen centre.

I stayed here to visit the D-Day beaches and museums, and it is a great location for this. I found this hotel really really good. I was a little worried the hotel might not be that good due to the low cost, but it turned out to be great. The room was perfect and really clean and modern. It was also very comfortable. It has an underground car park which costs €12 per day. The hotel is located in the same building as the mercure, and is also inter connected. It shares the Bar with the mercure. The staff we very friendly and helpful, and the cleaning staff very very professional and fast. The location couldnt be better, as there are lots of places to eat and drink right beside the hotel. The Wifi is free and decent. I cant think of any negitives at all about the hotel, and think its fantastic value for money.

Great location , walking distance from train station and the castle. Tons of restaurants near. Rooms have big beds, spotlessly clean.

Problem with getting two beds. We had to move twice because the room was made up for single occupancy by two people

Used as a base for visiting Normandy landings sites. Second visit to the hotel. Restaurant attached is a basic national steak chain but lots of local restaurants as hotel in ideal position. Underground parking at 10 euros for 24 hours. Highly recommended

Great location for an overnight

A really good hotel to choose! We were so pleased. The hotel is just on the central square 'Place Courtonne' by the canal and lots of restaurants and shops - it has a bar, a restaurant and underground car park at 10EUR a night. Very friendly helpful staff and all is very well laid out. We would definitely come back to this Ibis on another Normandy trip. The bed is very large, tv is large, there are electric points, good sized window. The only thing we might bring another time is a travel kettle (as I am British I like a cup of tea!). There is an enormous market every Sunday which is a must-see. Our holiday was really great because this hotel was so nice. GRAND merci!
