Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Helsinki

The Radisson Blu in Helsinki is s goid choice for either a business or holiday stay. The two best things are : The location is excellent, it is right across the street from a major subway and bus station, from which you can get almost anywhere in the region. If you need longer distance trains, then the Central rail station is on subway stop away. The bus station mall, Kamppi has plenty of little restaurants and the Kiosk convenience store. Also supermarkets and drug store are in the Kamppi bus station mall. Very convenient. Second, the hotel is newly renovated, clean and nice. The negatives are 1) the design choices inside the hotel could have been much better. For example, even if you are only reasonably tall, watch out for the large, hanging light in the bathroom over the sink. I kept hitting my head on that poorly placed light, so be careful; 2) the bed is very high with an overly soft bed and also a mattress cover. Although comfortable, it's a bit too soft, and because the softness (mattress and cover both) are so soft, it's hard to sit on the bed it sags and then you slide off. The floor was a slippery laminate of some kind. I know Radisson is trying to do a Marriott with the high, soft bed, but they should go see what Marriott buys for their mattresses; you don't slide off Marriott beds(this is not just a run of the mill complaint, the bed was really troublesome). Great location, lovely room, breakfast nice. Despite the building work (which was low key) the overall experience was good.

Recently refurbished and this is nearly complete. Rooms were super clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

A pleasant stay for me. However, It would have been nicer to have a computer available in the lobby in order to access the net, check e-mail etc., I had to walk to the Alexandr sister hotel to do that. I assumed that that feature was standard fare these days

Great location with direct access to metro. Newly refurbished room, clean and simple fitout. Friendly customer service at reception. Room amenities were not replaced the next day.

Good location just opposite of a big mall and the main bus terminal. Excellent breakfast and nice staff. One metro station to central railway station or a short walk around 10 mins. Rooms are newly renovated the bedroom side is perfect but the shower side is not fully covered at the bottom part which looked strange and water kept leaking out.

As it was my birthday, the card and the chocolate were thoughtful gestures from the staff.

Size and qusality of room. It wasnt clear if the wine on a shelf was complimentart or to be charged. Tray with cuos/ kettle wasnt emptied of used cups for the duration of stay.
