Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Helsinki

Good hotel but bad and not service minded staff at reception. This was a family weekend, I was traveling with my daughter and we stayed at this hotel for two nights. Despite the low season and half empty hotel we were placed in an old room close to the noisy part of the hotel that was being renovated. After our request to be moved to another room, we were placed at the very end of the corridor on the same floor in the smallest room possible. The bathroom washalf-size of the standard bathroom due to technical space adjacent to our room. The room was fresh and renovated but clearly not spacious enough for two people. The booking was made via Hotels.com with a 15% discount but I’m not sure whether it’s because of the discounted price the staff at the reception determined to place us in the worst room possible. This has clearly spoiled our experience with this fairly nice hotel.

All was good, the staff is very helpful.

Location, room and breakfast all great, two main complaints are the construction noise starting every morning (no warning when booked) and the room was too warm every night with no way to turn down the heat

we enjoyed staying in this hotel , the staff were friendly , very good location and the hotel even allowed us to extend check out time to 6pm. l strongly recommend friends to stay in this hotel.

Hotel staff very warm, friendly and helpful - particularly those in the breakfast room, chef and waitstaff. Our room was well designed and the bed comfortable ... the whole hotel was well heated (for a January stay). First time winter visitors should be aware that underground routes start across the road from the hotel and lead (un-icy, dry and warm) to the start of the Esplanade, for example. We arrived very early from a long flight and a room was not available. However, we were given access to the hotel’s sauna and showers which was appreciated. Only two small negatives, room service did not complete their task - leaving the bed unmade and a shortage of towels. Also, even though we were on the 8th floor a smell of drains was evident in the bathroom.

Amazing location, wonderful and very friendly staff. Interior feels a bit dated but overall clean. Sauna is awesome.

This hotel is definitely aging. The staff was very nice and everything was clean but it’s in need of an update for sure. Location is good and walkable.
