Omni La Costa Resort & Spa Carlsbad

The resort is beautiful and the staff was exceptional. I enjoyed the resort and the interactions with all staff. I highly recommend staying here. It is conveniently located as well .

What was once a reliably refined stay has quietly unraveled into something unrecognizable. This hotel, which once traded on its reputation for attentive service and well-kept accommodations, now feels neglected at every level—from indifferent staff interactions to rooms that show clear signs of deferred maintenance and a troubling lack of cleanliness. The rooms are old. They have a strange aroma similar to visiting your elderly grandmothers house. Within the first 2 hours of our stay, there was a leak in the kitchen sink and the shower drain was clogged and filled up with dirty water. After calling the front desk, they notified me that they would send someone up to fix this in the next 10 minutes. I proceeded to wait for 2 hours in which someone finally arrived. The entire process to fix the sink and drain took around one hour which was an inconvenience as I could not get ready for dinner and had to wait for them to complete the tasks. As my wife went to take a shower, she stepped on several screws that the maintenance person left on the floor of the shower and luckily did not hurt herself. On the last day of our stay, one of the tiles in the bathroom fell off the toe kick. In terms of the rest of the hotel, the pools have a very dirty aesthetic. Lounge chairs will have dirty towels left around even hours after the patrons have left leaving an aura of a dirty gym locker. One day, I went to the pool around 11am and there were still piles of dirty towels laying around from the previous day. For the amount of money this resort charges, you are better off going to another hotel such as the Grand Hyatt Aviara as you will have a much nicer experience as the pools, rooms and amenities are much nicer.

My girlfriend Savannah and I recently stayed for three nights at the Omni La Costa, and the experience was honestly incredible from start to finish. When we arrived, we were checked in by Taylor, who made the whole process feel effortless. It was quick, smooth, and set the tone for the rest of our stay. Taylor personally guided us up to the VIP suite to get fully checked in, which made us feel taken care of right away. Once we got to our room, Vanessa had left us a thoughtful amenity that was such a sweet touch. It really made us feel welcomed and appreciated it’s those little things that make a big difference. Later, we went to the restaurant and were served by Matthew, who was amazing. Super friendly, attentive, and just an all around great person he made dinner even more enjoyable. The next morning at breakfast, Oscar took care of us and was just as kind and welcoming. Both of them really stood out. Throughout our stay, being greeted by Taylor and Andrew at the VIP suite/front desk each morning made everything feel even more personal. Everyone we interacted with went above and beyond. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful, and everything ran smoothly we didn’t have a single issue the entire time. It was just a relaxing, memorable getaway, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

The sprawling grounds of this property are beautiful and well cared for, but the attitude and service of the hotel staff does not match this affect. The check in personnel were curt, distinctly unwelcoming and not helpful on the most basic of topics (elevator, breakfast, pool hours etc). They did not wear uniforms or name tags and were very put upon to offer low level service. The availability of our room was significantly delayed at check in because it "had been cleaned but was waiting on supervisor sign off." See attached photo of dirty tub at check in which did not indicate an inspection had taken place. Our dinner at Bob's Chop House was excellent as well as the service. Our breakfast at Vue was also a delightful experience. The spa is lovely and the treatment was very good, but the personnel in the spa are lacking warmth or a helpful attitude. The golf course was not in good condition and a disappointment. So, there a definitely positive aspects to a stay at La Costa but they are missing the mark on service basics, which, unfortunately taints the overall experience.

Resort is very family friendly and even has 21+ only pool for adults. I enjoy my spacious suite and the experience I had at the restaurants. Generally, everything was good, but I would prefer a faster service as I didn’t like to keep asking the status of my requests to waiters & waitresses and housekeeping & front desk staffs after a reasonable amount of waiting time (30+ mins)

We visited the resort in April for a family trip, and the highlight of our stay was the friendliness of the staff. From the valets to the restaurant servers—particularly at Vue—everyone was warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. That said, we did feel that the overall condition of the grounds did not match the level of service. Certain areas appeared to be showing signs of wear and a lack of cleanliness, especially around the main pool area. On multiple occasions in the morning, dishes from the previous day were still stacked on or near garbage cans, and the pool deck and furniture did not appear sufficiently cleaned. Additionally, the pool area seemed understaffed relative to the number of guests. While the staff was clearly doing their best, service was slow and tere was often no one available to clear used towels or promptly remove plates and glassware after guests left, which further impacted the overall experience. Overall, while the staff truly stood out, improvements to the upkeep of the grounds and poolside service would have significantly enhanced our experience.

Over price for the resort they promote. Not worth your money the rooms are outdated and so are the pools. Everything has an extra fee hidden. Pretty boring for families mostly uptight older people.

Top shelf experience at La Costa. Excellent service. Excellent food. Restful comfort. Great amenities. Tailored care.
