The location was great

Our stay was unfortunately far below what you would expect from a hotel of this category and price point. When we checked in and entered the room, the bed was covered in hair (photos attached). I immediately reported this at the front desk and was told it would be taken care of right away. However, after waiting around 45 minutes, no one had come. I followed up again and was reassured it would be handled immediately, but still nothing happened. In the end, after roughly two hours, I had to approach a cleaning staff member myself to get the issue resolved. Beyond this initial experience, housekeeping throughout the stay was inconsistent. Despite being a 5-star hotel, our room was often only cleaned around 5pm. Shortly after, turndown service would be offered, which made little sense given how late the room had just been cleaned. As this is part of the daily resort fee, it did not feel like a service that was actually delivered in a meaningful way. What made the experience particularly disappointing was the attitude at the front desk. The service often felt impolite and dismissive. At checkout, despite the booking and full payment being entirely under my name and credit card, the staff directed the payment confirmation toward my husband. He was not involved in the payment and could not have confirmed any details. This gave the clear impression that the payment responsibility was assumed to lie with him by default, which felt inappropriate. When I raised this afterward with guest services, the response I received was a generic “I’m sorry you perceived it that way,” which did not acknowledge the issue. Finally, certain elements included in the daily resort fee were not communicated or delivered. For example, no welcome drink was offered, and the resort fee itself was not proactively disclosed at check-in. Overall, this was far from a 5-star experience. Given the price, the lack of attention to detail, service quality, and professionalism was disappointing.

Booked a solo trip to get some R&R. This was the perfect place for it. The rooms are beautifully adorned with modern amenities. My room had a soaking tub, balcony, and fantastic unobstructed view of the ocean. I was able to sit on my balcony and watch the beautiful sunset. It was a heavenly experience. The staff were amazing. They were very welcoming, resourceful, and accommodating. I have no complaints about my stay. I will definitely be returning.

We decided to spend the weekend with my family at Surf & Sand Resort in Laguna Beach. At first glance it looks like a beautiful hotel with an incredible ocean view, which is why we chose it. Unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing. We paid about $1,000 per night and planned a nice evening: dinner on the balcony while watching the sunset. That was the whole idea of the trip. But things started going wrong right away. Check-in is supposed to be at 4 PM, yet we were told the room wasn’t ready and had to wait almost two hours. I went to the front desk multiple times, and at one point the receptionist started trying to convince us to take a room with two queen beds even though we had specifically booked a king bed. I had to repeat several times that our reservation was for a king before they finally gave us the correct room. They mentioned some kind of compensation — I believe around $300 (or maybe $100, it wasn’t very clear) — and we’re still waiting to see when the incorrectly charged minibar fees will be refunded. The next day I had to call and explain that we had used much less from the minibar than what they charged us for. Because we got into the room late, we ordered dinner. The food arrived on time, which I appreciate, but they forgot the main dish and even the second soda. So we had to wait again. In the end, we missed the sunset and didn’t even have the full dinner we ordered — which was the whole reason we wanted the balcony in the first place. That said, I’m not going to give the lowest possible rating. The location and ocean views are beautiful, and the property itself has a lot of potential. I’ll probably come back again with my wife, and if the service improves, I’ll gladly delete this review and write a much better one.

Great location on the beach. Luxurious room with fantastic ocean views. Excellent and friendly service throughout. Lovely pool area provided spacious comfort. Dinner was exceptional.

If you are looking for a resort that delivers natural beauty, impeccably comfortable accommodations, and staff who genuinely care about making your stay exceptional — look no further. This is Laguna Beach at its finest.

Where else in calif can you can stay on the beach, with waves breaking below you having and full 180 degree view from the South, Catalina Island to the Palace Verde’s Coast. The price price given super reasonable including $100 towards purchase and included parking and all taxes and resort fee. Service was phenomenal. This is Orange country’s secret get-a-way
