Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows

We had a fantastic stay at the Royal Lahaina Resort! The staff was friendly, and we really enjoyed the delicious food at the on-site restaurant. The luau included in our package was so much fun and a definite highlight of the trip. We also loved the easy, private-feeling beach access directly from the resort. The water is calm during low tide, making it a perfectly safe and excellent spot for kids to play. Highly recommend!

The Royal Lahaina resort is like a secret gem. The hotel has accommodations that range from ocean front tower rooms to larger bungalows connected by winding walkways with a couple of those having ocean views from the second floor. What I really enjoyed about the property was the proximity from the hotel lounge to the pool and beach, a matter of 100 feet or less, unlike many of the resorts that are set far back, entailing a lengthy walk to the beach. We found the room to be mostly clean, updated and sufficient to meet our needs ( I did wipe out drawers). We had an ocean front room on the 10th floor and enjoyed the views immensely watching turtles, dolphins and boats go by. There was always a free elevator and they were quick; we did not ever have to wait. The service at this property is great; everyone from wait staff, to front desk to pool hut buys were friendly and happy to serve. The hotel even has a dedicated text line that you can request anything you may need like more towels or coffee. The text line is promptly answered and your needs accommodated. There is a beach walk that connects the property north and south to several other properties and restaurants and well as an open air market for gifts/souvenirs. A small walk from the hotel is the Fairways plaza that offers pizza, excellent sushi and the Happy Fish restaurant which was also very good. I will mention that during our stay, it was windy and the resort insisted all umbrellas be kept down making extended time at the pol or beach impossible due to the sun, but no other resorts did we witness umbrellas being kept down. In spite of the umbrellas being kept unused, you were able to rent one for the beach for $75. Seemed like an odd policy and an inconvenience for those trying to manage their sun exposure. Barbara, pool server was great, went above and beyond. Marly and Early in the restaurant were excellent. Overall the property is an excellent value, in a good location and we enjoyed our stay there. Lastly, I will mention there was a very large Banyan tree where they hosted nightly music; we saw fantastic artists and the evenings were divine with large lanterns hung from the Branches, which is the name of the venue.

Our first room had a musty mildew smell. However, the staff moved us to a room room with a wonderful view of the beach

We had amazing time and the restaurant manager Ford was awesome and made our honeymoon! We will be going back at same time next year.

Nice location

Pigeons at the restaurant. Absolutely disgusting! They were everywhere and we saw some hotel employees even feeding them. There were so many that if you left your plate unattended for a minute they would sit on your table and eat the food off your plate. I am not even mentioning all the diseases they can carry. Just insane, an absolute deal breaker for us. Would never stay there again.

Response time to issues could improve

Noise: Ride-on lawnmowers outside your window on Sunday mornings. Not what you expect at a resort charging these prices. Pools: Small and basic. Nothing resort-worthy. Beach: Decent, but the beach next door is better. Billing: Charged full price for a room we never occupied. Hotel refused to refund despite proof we were physically at another property during the disputed dates. Their own front desk confirmed our arrival the day before and said nothing. We had to pay twice for the same stay. Luau: $500+ for the most crowded, least scenic, least impressive luau we have attended in Hawaii. No good photo spot. Show was average. We have done three luaus here - this was last place on every measure. Front desk: Rude, unhelpful, and uninterested in resolving problems. We watched multiple guests disputing incorrect breakfast charges while we were there. Save your money. Better options exist on this beach.

I stayed in a bungalow. Body wash was missing upon arrival. Termite nests were at the corners of the bathroom ceiling and floor. Ants, termites, and roaches showed up every day. Small flies and mosquitoes swarmed in whenever I open the door. No tables, desks, or chairs were in the room. Body wash was diluted with water instead of being replaced during my room cleaning service on the third day of my stay.
