Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows

We booked our Maui vacation through Costco Travel, and stayed at the beautiful Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows. From the moment we arrived, the experience was outstanding. We were greeted at check-in by Stacey, who was absolutely incredible. She fully understood every detail of the vacation package we booked and took the time to explain the ins and outs of the resort, along with recommendations for activities and restaurants both on and off the property. She was truly a treasure and made us feel welcomed immediately. Like many Maui resorts, the room key was a wearable bracelet. Honestly, the perfect touch for a beach and snorkeling vacation. We could head out with nothing but the bracelet and enjoy the resort worry-free. It made everything simple and convenient. Every employee we encountered during our stay was kind, friendly, and genuinely helpful. From Rose, our breakfast hostess each morning who remembered us and greeted us warmly, to the staff throughout the resort, everyone made us feel valued and at home. When it came time to check out, Stacey once again made the experience memorable. She asked about our stay, made sure everything had gone well, and even gave us additional recommendations for things to do during our last few hours before heading to the airport. That level of personal service really stood out. The Royal Lahaina helped make our Maui vacation unforgettable, and it’s absolutely a place we would return to again. We’re already looking forward to the next visit

Royal Lahaina will forever be missed by my group of three. From the incredible staff to the gorgeous grounds, we were very impressed with our stay. Upon arrival, we had some issues with our room, and Stacey at the front desk moved us to a bungalow. Stacey, thank you for going above and beyond for us! The bungalow’s decor was cute, and the small outdoor patio was perfect for relaxing. It was spacious, and we felt like it enhanced our stay rather than being in a regular room. The hotel is situated just past the main hotel strip on Kaanapali Beach, so you get a less busy beach that feels like it’s just for you. Walking just steps outside the pool area to the most beautiful sand and water was the highlight for us. The water is crystal clear, and the sand is so soft. We even had a special visitor—a turtle that swam past us! We snorkeled near Black Rock and kept saying to each other that the water wasn’t as clear as it was outside our hotel. The hotel grounds make you truly feel like you’re in Hawaii, with beautiful trees and plants in every corner. Also, the umbrellas, chairs, etc., were all in perfect condition. The hotel had a very boutique feel. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by how much this hotel had to offer. I would gladly come back and stay here again.

Spacious and clean rooms. Nice location with easy access to many shops and restaurants. Easy access to a very clean and beautiful beach. Great views of the ocean and the golf grounds nearby.

Price for value is too high for what it offers. Rooms and nice and spacious but furniture and fixtures are a bit worn out and outdated. Property has a huge parking spot on the ground yet they ask for +40$ per day for parking for existing hotel guests

The Royal Lahania was a very peaceful and beautiful place to stay. We had beautiful views from our balcony room in the tower. There were always plenty of loungers in the pool areas with a variety of seating areas to relax in. It is only a short walk up the beach to Airport beach where there is a wonderful reef for snorkeling and swimming with turtles. There are also two nice golf courses right next to the resort. Whaler's Village is a short 3 minute drive where there are several nice shops and restaurants.

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. From the beginning, the staff’s attitude was unprofessional and, at times, outright rude. Whenever I asked for assistance or clarification, I was often met with dismissive or sarcastic responses—along the lines of “I already told you at check-in, why are you asking again?” This kind of behavior is unacceptable in any hospitality setting. One particularly frustrating incident happened when I requested a takeaway breakfast. The woman in the dining area responded in an extremely rude and mocking tone, simply saying it wasn’t possible and brushing me off with “talk to my manager, I don’t want to deal with it.” It felt like I was being ridiculed rather than helped. To make matters worse, the cleanliness of the room was absolutely appalling. It was clearly not properly cleaned, and the overall condition was unacceptable (see attached photos). On top of that, the bathroom door was defective and would not close properly, which made the stay even more uncomfortable (see attached video). Overall, this was a very unpleasant stay, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting basic courtesy and cleanliness.

Great location. There are incredible views from our Partial ocean view room. Very friendly staff everywhere at the front desk, lobby, at the restaurant and cafe, cleaning staff.

The Royal Lahaina Bungalows and Resorts is the best property on the island of Maui ! It reminds me of old Hawaii. It was my second time visiting in the last year. I brought my adult boys for the first week and it was so special. Then I hung solo for a week. Gretchen at the front desk is amazing! Cara at the restaurant is a rock star and Rosie at the restaurant so sweet! Everyone was so lovely and they all treated us like family. We are already planning our next visit!
