"Outstanding hotel"

We had a one night stay at this outstanding hotel. All the staff are exceptional and friendly - from the gatehouse, car park (included charging my electric car), reception, bar and staff showing us to our room. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. We ate at Restaurant Eighty Eight and had the delicious 8 course tasting menu. Again, all the staff there were exceptional. The highlight of the stay though had to be receiving a complimentary upgrade to the two floor Royal Suite. An incredible experience!

"Afternoon tea. Exceptional."

Brilliant. We have had lots of afternoon teas but this is next level. Beautiful savouries and the patisserie is better than much of what he have had in Paris.

"Amazing 10/10 stay"

When reading about 5 star hospitality and experiencing it, it’s genuinely astonishing how all these places manage it. Now there’s 5 star and there’s Grantley hall. The staff are what makes this place truly special and it certainly wouldn’t be what it is without them. I have to start by praising the wonderful arrival team who parked our car for us and showed us up to our incredible room. Now this review, although is aimed at all the staff, does come from one individual. That is Alex at the Norton bar. He knew who we were from the moment we sat down and knew we were celebrating a special occasion. The main aspect that blew me away however, was his knowledge and passion for his craft. He talked us through everything on the bar and even asked us for our personal preferences so he could design us an individual cocktail based on our own tastes. Wow wow wow - he blew us away. We both have very different tastes but he was able to take our preferences away and encompass them into a singular drink. I was that blown away I even asked for the recipie so I can recreate it at home. Another shout out has to go to Vlad in fletchers, his warm approach and his willingness to do whatever it takes to satisfy the guest is unrivalled to anywhere we have ever been, nothing is too much for him. We will certainly be returning very soon and cannot recommend this hotel enough, if you are considering it, JUST DO IT !!

"Didn't live up to our expectations....."

We recently stayed at Grantley Hall and, while there were definitely some highlights, the overall experience fell short of expectations, particularly given the price point and reputation. Starting with the positives: the setting is undeniably beautiful, the spa facilities are excellent, and the cleanliness of the rooms was faultless. A few members of staff Isaac, Henry, and June in the spa, were genuinely outstanding and helped create a warm and welcoming first impression. However, the stay was let down by a number of avoidable issues which you simply don’t expect at around £1,000 per night. The first was a lapse in room management, where another guest’s luggage was placed in our room and vice versa. We also discovered that items had been taken from our bag and placed in the wrong fridge, which required us to call and have it rectified. Dinner at Restaurant 88 was a major disappointment. We had booked for a special occasion but were initially seated next to the main entrance to the kitchen and bar what we were told was one of their “carriage tables” which was far from ideal. While the team did accommodate a move, the service overall did not match the cost or expectations. The beef dish and service charge were eventually removed, but only after we made it clear we were unwilling to pay for a dish that was inedible. Initially, the item remained on the bill, and at no point did a manager come over to address the issue. Unfortunately, this did not make up for what was ultimately an underwhelming experience for what was meant to be a special occasion. We also experienced issues with the room temperature. The room was uncomfortably hot and, despite calling as soon as we arrived to have the underfloor heating turned down, it took nearly 15 hours to take effect during a one-night stay. We later heard from other guests that they had experienced similar issues. Given that rooms are checked prior to guest arrival, this was surprising. Additionally, the in-room technology felt more frustrating than luxurious. For a hotel marketed as offering a “state-of-the-art entertainment system,” the inability to stream from personal devices or easily play music felt like a significant oversight. I initially held off posting a review as I had already provided honest feedback directly. While I did receive a follow-up call and email about a week later which were polite and acknowledged the issues the response felt somewhat templated and more focused on maintaining brand image than genuinely addressing the impact of our experience. The closing offer to personally oversee a future booking felt generic and left me questioning whether this level of response is what their 'VIP' guests would experience. Overall, while Grantley Hall has all the ingredients of a luxury destination, the execution during our stay did not live up to expectations. It could be excellent but as it stands, it didn’t quite deliver for us.
