Grantley Hall

Super special place. We knew this was special before we visited because a number of friends had treated themselves to a stay here before us. Their glowing reviews were not misplaced. From the moment you drive up to the gate (we were not guests that were helicoptered in!) you can feel the opulence. A wonderfully scenic drive up to the main building doesn’t disappoint. Staff everywhere all fabulously helpful and courteous. I really don’t want to say much more for fear of spoilers but if you can afford to treat yourself to this type of thing it certainly rivals The Ritz and Gleneagles. Go on, treat yourself!

Stayed many times before but this was our first Christmas House party stay - 3 days of exquisite full board with Xmas themed activities scheduled throughout the stay. Another excellent experience all round. First time staying in main house rather than the fountains wing - the main house is better, much more convenient. All the staff were excellent, it’s got a more modern vibe than other 5 star hotels so don’t expect deference or fawning, just jolly pleasant chatty staff eager to please. The breakfast offering is superb.

Myself and my partner stayed here last night for our anniversary and from the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. We were welcomed with a huge smile and our car parked for us and luggage taken to the room. We arrived early so we could make the most of our time here and whilst checking in we were told the room was ready whilst we enjoyed our welcome drink, which was fantastic! We then had a drink in the bar and were given exceptional polite and welcoming service from every aspect. After we had a drink in the bar, we went into the Orchard for another drink and we were met by the absolutely fantastic Hector, who was kind, attentive and extremely friendly. We chatted with him for a short while and explained we were dining in the EightyEight restaurant and he confirmed he would be in there on the evening and would make sure he looked after us, BOT DID HE! Hector arranged for our favourite cocktails to be in the bar for when we arrived and we discussed the exceptional food they had to offer, asking what we liked and putting forward several recommendations. Hector also arranged for a car to take us to the restaurant as it was hammering it down with rain. When we arrived Hector had already arranged for us to have our favourite starters in the bar, prior to going down to the restaurant. Hector arranged this as we both said we were hungry as we hadn’t eaten since breakfast and took it upon himself to make sure we had something to eat as soon as we arrived which was extremely thoughtful and attentive. He also provided complimentary mince pies which were phenomenal! The options that we had discussed for the evening meal were at our table the moment we sat down, alongside a bottle of our favourite champagne that we had discussed earlier when in the Orchard. Hector’s attentiveness, willing to help and nothing being too much trouble absolutely made our trip the best experience we have ever had. We’ve stayed in many nice hotels across the world and this ranks no. 1 without a shadow of a doubt. We had festive afternoon tea yesterday at Grantley and it was absolutely wonderful. Service was perfect and everything was explained by the waiting staff who were very attentive and friendly. I had requested sandwiches without butter and I was approached as soon as I sat down and told that the sandwiches were unbuttered anyway. The dining room is very opulent and makes a very luxurious setting. As a non tea drinker it was great to have different options of unlimited coffee we even had a hot chocolate to finish. All the sandwiches and savoury options were lovely as were the exquisite cakes, unfortunately we were so full we had them boxed up. It’s expensive but it was worth the two hour drive to Ripon, we will be back and may even book a stay next time and explore Grantley Hall further as it is stunning.

We had afternoon tea, it was the best of the best , amazing food ,ambience, and staf . I stay often , and would say it’s one of the best hotels in the world, in my opinion .

We’ve stayed at this hotel numerous times since it’s opened, and it never fails to deliver. The whole place…the restaurants, the grounds, the rooms…they’re all beautiful and very tasteful. The beds are some of the most comfortable I’ve slept in. We prefer the rooms or suites in the ‘new’ part of the hotel, and favourite restaurant is Eighty Eight…so atmospheric, always a great vibe, and consistently fantastic food. We always use the gym, which is really well fitted out with all the latest equipment and is spotlessly clean. On our recent trip we also made a visit to the Grantley Arms in the nearby village, which is linked to the hotel and is a beautiful foodie country pub. But the outstanding feature of Grantley Hall has got to be the staff. Beautifully turned out, amazingly helpful and courteous, all very engaging and chatty, but never overstepping the mark. We will return to this hotel again and again.
