The room was available when I needed it. The service in the restaurant in the evening was good, and the staff at breakfast were helpful and polite.

The welcome wasn’t particularly warm, and I was asked to sign a form without really being given time to read it properly. The WiFi didn’t work for the first four hours (and again in the morning), and mobile data (EE) wasn’t usable either — not the property’s fault, but frustrating. The soap and shampoo dispensers felt more Premier Inn than personal, and the shampoo didn’t work at all. The room was directly under the restaurant, so no chance of sleep until the venue was emptied and cleaned. Noise resumed at breakfast — slightly less disruptive, but still noticeable. The room didn’t resemble the photos on Booking.com and was at street level, meaning people could look directly in — and some did. I was woken at 7:30 by a lorry speeding past. Food was good but not excellent — the fish was over-salted for my taste, and the strawberries didn’t seem fresh. The kettle had to be used on the floor due to a lack of sockets. A few biscuits in the room would’ve been a nice touch.

Lovely friendly pub

Quaint pub in lovely village. Lovely staff. Nice outdoor garden for food. Reasonable pub food.

Price bumped up exceptionally - 2.5 x for the Goodwood Festival of Speed - for the same room.
