Moxy York

Moxy York has a high traveler rating and the convenient location to tourist sites are why I was willing to try this hotel where you check in at the bar. Friendly and easy check in at the bar, then I entered a comfortable room with a functional design. That night I went down to the lobby/bar area for a beer where I watched one family play a game of toss the ring, a father and son play another game, people were laughing at drinking at the tables in the back end of the bar, at the opposite end of the lobby was a comfortable and more quiet sitting area for those who just want to read or have a quiet chat. I admit that I was happily surprised to see the mix of hotel guests and the ease of flow the place offered us all.

We had a lovely stay at the Moxy York. For a 3-star hotel it feels very modern, stylish and full of character, with a great atmosphere throughout. The staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful, with a special mention to Maya who stood out for her excellent service. We had a small issue with the door lock, but it was fixed immediately, which we really appreciated. The only minor downside is that a bit more shelving or storage in the rooms would be helpful. Overall, a really enjoyable stay and we’d happily return.

No complimentary bottled water in the room. Breakfast needs to pay overnight in advance to get 3 pounds discount.

Moxy was in a great location a few minutes walk in the town area. Staff were friendly. Had an amazing sleep room was very quiet and loved the breakfast there was plenty to choose from. So will definitely be staying here agin.

Absolutely Nothing

The room was great and bed was very comfortable. We stayed for two nights and got to explore a bit of York during such lovely weather. The staff was very kind and helpful and assisted us with anything we needed. Loved the back beer garden shared nice welcoming drinks!

Room was a tiny bit small but good for just two people. It was just outside from the center (like a 8 min walk) but it was very quiet at night and relaxing.

Loved the modern look and quirky little details like shoes on toilet door. Staff was amazing everything we needed. The welcome drinks were a nice bonus. And being able to go out into a secluded garden during night was brilliant as I’m not a good sleeper.
