This is the 3rd time staying in this hotel, and won't be the last. Everything you need is here, restaurants, pools, spa, gym, shops, duty free, and right on the beach! They were a little short staffed this trip, sadly typical for hospitality, but everyone worked hard to ensure the guests were looked after. Customer service at it's best :)

We just returned from a wonderful week at The Crane and about the only thing I would do differently next time is stay longer! What a great stay. The staff - every last one of them - were so helpful and friendly. They also made sure that you knew of the other events and opportunities on the resort. "Will you be at the beach barbecue tomorrow? You're going to Oistens Friday night, right?" and this was from folks all over and not done in any way that felt like there was pressure for a "sale". Service and food/beverage were great all around, despite having a new system that seemed to slow things down at first around the pool area. The historic grounds are absolutely amazing, and there was a Monday night one-hour reception for HGVC owners on the historic lawn, and it was perfect! I probably wouldn't attend the beach barbecue again - or if I did, I'd book it sooner so that I had an earlier reservation. By the time we arrived for our 7:30 reservation, they were out of many things (like dressing for salads and the sauce for the delicious coconut bread pudding. I am one who rarely gets my moneys worth at a buffet, honestly, but I definitely didn't at that - but we still had a great time. The atmopshere, the entertainment, and the people made it great all the same. We spent a good bit of time around the pool and while there are a few minor maintenance issues here (some tiles could be replaced, a few umbrella stands could use umbrellas and the like) we didn't have any real complaints. Our room was a 1BR "residence by the sea" in Building 5 and it was just great. We occasionally had some slow draining in one sink in the main bathroom that was no big deal (but noticeable) but after housekeeping came one of the days that I think it was still draining, it was fixed the next day without any mention from us. While thinking of housekeeping- it was absolutely fabulous. I was stunned at how thorough it was (even washing dishes we'd set in the dishwasher once waiting until we had a few more to add before running it), and keeping us very well stocked with coffee and the like. The kitchen is well equipped for basic cooking (we had every breakfast in the kitchen and many lunches). The washer and dryer in the suite were great as well - so nice to be able to refresh laundry during downtime in the suite. The store on the property is about as reasonably priced as the local supermarket and certainly a better deal than the cost of getting their and back on top of prices and the selection was "good enough" for a week. We did make it into the bigger store because we did have a rental car, but I probably won't rent a car when we return. We loved the decor and the ambiance that really steps you back in time. Every evening, there was entertainment in the main square area, just outside of Bar 1887, which was a great place to spend a little time and make new friends. It didn't hurt that we had perfect weather, too. All in all, this was a relaxing and delightful vacation on beautiful, historic grounds in a warm, very welcoming country.
