Wyndham Garden Conference Center Champaign - Urbana

Stayed here overnight on the way home from a vacation. Hotel was difficult to find. Small sign by a back road that was not lighted, no obvious sign on the side of the building. Very few lights on the exterior of the building. Weird smell in lobby area. Polite receptionist but not dressed in anything obviously indicating they were an employee. We were told that the bar was closed that night. I don't think it's ever open. Stood for a long time waiting for the elevator when the employee asked if we had been waiting long. We were informed that the elevator sometimes turns itself off and need to be restarted. Employee went to get a key and then went into the elevator equipment room to restart the elevator. We chanced the ride because we were only going up one floor. The room and bed/sheets seemed clean and didn't have the same strange odor. The carpet had been replaced by vinyl plank flooring. There was a small hotel refrigerator in the usual spot and then a larger, apartment-sized refrigerator in the spot where you walk from the bathroom to the bed. Definitely in the way. The condition of the bathroom was an issue. Bubbled panels on the walls (water damage?), dents in the wall, vent cover dirty and hanging down, broken mirror, exposed water and drain lines, extremely dirty grout on the floor, dirty floor corners, bad caulking in the shower - like someone just threw things together to make it kind of work. The faucet on the sink was set back too far so the spout was not long enough for the water to clear the edge unless it was turned on full blast. The water did not completely drain from the sink. Dark stains in the sink. We discovered that there is no insulation against noise when the people next door came in at 1:30 am. Their talking, making popcorn, tv noise, etc. sounded like it was in our room. Most of the noise seemed to be echoing though the connecting door. Did not chance trying the included hot breakfast in the morning. When we checked out we were not even told that a breakfast was available. Will not stay there again.

front reception clerk was good. Room seemed to be clean.

We did not stay here we ended up leaving and going to a hotel next door because when we got there the pool was empty!! I brought kids with me to enjoy the pool there.

Potential, beautiful inside main floor, room was decent.

Elevator almost squished me… very dirty some places ESPECIALLY the elevator … booked solely for the Jacuzzi bathtub, and it was broken, but the front desk lady was bragging about how it was updated in everything prior to us going up to our room.. pool was out of commission so that was added disappointment but not a deal breaker.. breakfast was AWFUL overall I needed a getaway and it was just good enough for us to not leave..

Mold in ceiling tiles in hallway mosty smelling and bathrooms need updating.
