Hyatt Regency Rochester

The property smelled strongly of marijuana throughout common areas and hallways. More concerning were serious safety failures during a late-night fire alarm. Guests were evacuated through poorly marked stairwells that led to the street with no reentry or guidance. Alarms did not sound on all floors, elevators were still in use, and most guests never evacuated. Staff seemed uninformed and indifferent, with no manager available overnight. The next morning, overcrowded elevators forced us to use the sketchy stairwell again. This experience frightened children in our group.

I’ve stayed here on three different occasions. Overall it is probably the crappiest Hyatt I’ve ever stayed in. They apparently they spent some money to try and fix up the rooms but it appears cheaply done. The floor and walls around my shower are bubbling up from water damage. The walls are thin and you can hear noise in the hall all night. In the lobby area it is dirty, old, and signs of maintenance neglect everywhere, especially around some ceiling trim areas. Even though it is located in downtown Rochester that is also one of its drawbacks since much of the downtown area is permanently closed with many homeless. I would say avoid but I don’t think you have many other nice options to stay in Rochester.

Great location, great price for an amazing room with a great view! The lady at the check in desk was phenomenal and had excellent customer service

very unfriendly front desk - not feel welcomed at all. the breakfast is terrible - any hyatt place has a better breakfast
