The Barnes San Francisco, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

The service staff are excellent—polite, attentive and quick to respond to requests. Unfortunately, the hotel itself feels old and tired. If you have asthma or are sensitive to dust, I would avoid this place. My wife was coughing constantly until I called the front desk and asked for the room to be vacuumed, after which her coughing stopped immediately. We’re staying in room 526, which feels like it hasn’t been used for quite some time. A quick look at the shower curtain confirmed that impression—it was old, too short and flooded the bathroom when we used the shower. To their credit, the staff replaced it promptly with the correct length, but overall the condition of the room left a poor impression.

The BEST Hotel - Location, Service & Food This hotel has everything that ensures a wonderful and memorable stay. The Barnes Hotel LOCATION is PERFECTLY near all the main sightseeing places. The rooms and facilities are all very clean. The SERVICE is EXCELLENT and delightful. ALL the hotel staff (Amarion & Frankie) really make you feel welcomed and genuinely goes out of their way to make your stay pleasant. My recommendation is to book your stay at The Barnes Hotel as soon as possible and you won't regret it.

Carmen and Frankie were very welcoming and accommodated to our every need. They made our visit in SF much more memorable.

Really nice stay at the Barnes in Union Square. The decor is very retro and they have a great little bar with a Happy Hour. The front desk staff were so helpful and Amarion even offered to help me carry a heavy box across the street to my conference. He was genuinely so helpful. Great location close to amazing g restaurants and shopping. The room was very large and roomy with a nice bathroom.

Right in the center of the city. The cable car was right outside and easy to get on. Shopping and lots of food choices nearby. The room was spacious and decorated with a cool vibe. Fitness center was basic. Such a helpful and friendly staff. Especially Julia! Top notch cleanliness and bar and breakfast service

I stayed at the Barnes SF, Tapestry Collection by Hilton for about 5 days. It was an excellent property. It is unique, feels like a boutique hotel in a bustling city center. The surrounding area is safe and vibrant in late 2025. Frankie at the front desk was exceptional. His excellent service made my stay even better. Thanks so much.

We booked this hotel with the reviews that it was a business hotel and in the centre close to Union Square. We also believed that as a Hilton chain member, the quality shouldn't be too far. The hotel rating after staying in it, we felt should be closer to 2/3 stars rather than 4. The rooms are dated. Carpets look dated. The toilets are basic but other than the hot water taking ages to come on, no real issues. There are no work desks or chairs and the lighting are very dim, not suitable for working like a business hotel. There were NO water bottles provided for free in the room but bottle of water was chargeable at $3 per bottle which I deem as quite unacceptable for a 4 star business hotel. They do not provide toothpaste or toothbrushes or shower caps or bedroom slippers. The people serving us in the hotels though were very friendly and patient, which was a big plus. Breakfast was a buffet continental with the usual cereal, juices, toast and fruits. No real comments to that. The hotel management needs to review and rethink some of their ethos in what they are providing for the customers if they wish to brand themselves as a business hotel.

I usually stay at the larger Hilton properties in the Financial District for work, I like the luxury feel and amenities offered more at the larger properties. Frankie at the front desk gave The Barnes the big luxury property feel, within the smaller boutique setting. Thanks Frankie and team!

Nice hotel in the heart of downtown SF Polite and helpful staff (Frankie, Christine, and Carmen) Older building but nicely maintained rooms.
