The Clarendon Hotel

The location of the hotel is convenient, but unfortunately, the cleanliness is far below an acceptable level. As someone who works in the hotel industry myself, I understand how crucial proper hygiene standards are — and the lack of cleanliness here was truly shocking. The towel had visible stains, the electric kettle was dirty inside, and many surfaces, including countertops and storage containers, were covered in dust and grime. Running a finger across the furniture left it visibly dirty. The carpet was stained, the ventilation fan was full of dust and cobwebs, and there was mold and peeling paint in the corners. Even one of the sofa pillows had a visible stain — something that should never be overlooked in guest accommodations. What made the experience even more disturbing was the fact that someone was sleeping on the sofa on the second floor during the night and early morning hours. This made us feel very uncomfortable and raised serious concerns about security and guest management. Unless serious improvements are made to both hygiene and guest supervision, I cannot recommend staying at this hotel.

Staff are friendly and helpful. They clearly work hard to keep this place afloat, but it's a tired hotel in need of refurbishment. Would have been OK but we stayed on a Saturday night, which meant 'Kev's Karaoke' blasting out tuneless nonsense from the hotel basement until midnight. Impossible to sleep through. So don't book on a Saturday unless you love Karaoke, or are hard of hearing. Cheap prices though, and cooked breakfast (£5.50 supplement) was decent.

Disappointed with the quality of the rooms and bathroom. Although clean just poor showers and very noisy.

Have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and had pleasant weekends there.....but it seems that this has changed with new management. The room was clean, decently sized and came with tea/coffee making facilities, towels and toiletries. The problem was the breakfast restaurant. Despite having paid for full English breakfasts, we were refused and asked to pay a further £5.50 each. The staff were quite vociferous and aggressive over this and we were made to feel that we were trying to get something we hadn't paid for. More worrying, as my wife has food allergies, was the allergen matrix that was 3 years out of date. This is a legal requirement, and none of the staff saw it as a problem. Also, the bar staff pull down the shutters and close the bar at 10pm.....not good if you are meeting up with friends and like to chat with a drink. The staff appear to have scant regard for their customers and could benefit from customer skills training. My wife and i will return to Morecambe but will avoid this hotel.

Nice, older style hotel, friendly staff, comfortable, clean, decent breakfast. see last reviews, still just as good.

My new favourite Morecambe hotel. Stayed here twice now, should have tried it earlier. This is an older hotel, not slick and modern, so quirky, and the facilities are more basic, and may not suit you if you prefer modernity (try the Midland, and then pay for it!). More space in the rooms than many other hotels close by. Friendly staff, nice bar, a little quiet, which is fine by me, as there's a busy bar downstairs in the basement. Decent breakfast at a reasonable price

We booked this hotel after staying Q a few times over the years. Booked it through booking . Com and paid it said Breafast was included on the site but shortly after booking it the hotel called us and stated breakfast was continental only and it would be another£5.50 each. So we told them it said Breakfast was included in the price on booking . Com and they then cancelled our room and we’re still waiting for our money back you’ve been warned stay away faulse advertising on Booking site !!,

We stayed for one night at Easter what an amazing Hotel room was gorgeous great view well equipped free toiletries hair dryer iron and ironing board the guy on reception was amazing didn’t get his name Zoe on the bar was so lovely Breakfast was great plenty of choice all fresh xxx

Looked good on paper not so closer u look….clean room and comfortable bed.noisy extractor fan at your windows … Virtually empty when I go there and they didn’t chance Continental breakfast was a disgrace!! Stale bread and long life danish pastries Cheep coffee sachets and milk that was on the turn …. Very poor offering that was not worth eating or looking forward too …. Disappointing
