Casa do Mercado

He probably is much more pleasant in the summer very humid walls were wet but overall an OK place if you’re on the budget

Casa do Mercado is a beautiful property but the service was not good. I booked my stay with breakfast but did not receive it. I didnt receive any instruction on how breakfast was served. I saw that other guests had breakfast delivered outside their room but none was delivered outside my room. I wasted money by booking breakfast which was never received. Coffee machine in room had no coffee, water bottle in room was empty and not refilled. WIFI poor.

The facilities are amazing, perfect location, clean and roomy. I would recommend this property for any length of stay.

We booked for one night on our way to Funchal and one on our return. On our first (and only) visit after an over-night flight from Canada there was no one to meet us. The telephone on the reception desk did not work. The premises were not accessible to older travelers with standard luggage, because entrance is by a narrow spiral staircase. We found a traditional room at a nearby hotel and cancelled both reservations by email. The management nevertheless charged our credit card for both nights, even though our return trip is over 5 weeks away. We advise great caution in dealing with these people.

We were told we could get access to our room anytime, and that someone would be available at 8am. We waited over 2 hours to get access, after numerous calls and messages. We witnessed another older couple have the same problem, in addition to not having anyone available to help them up the steep staircase with their bags. Furthermore, our internet was spotty and the room was damp. Do not recommend.

Great location. Very clean and close to everything.

I really enjoyed staying at This hotel. It was right in the centre of Ponta Delgada. Everything we needed was within walking distance.

I didnt stay , my flight was cancelled from Flores Island to Sao Miguel Island , an email from Sata airlines was immediately sent to the hotel and Sata airlines also immediately called the property to inform about the flight cancellation due to a storm . At the same time Hotels gold team made a phone call and explained the situation asking for the refund ( booking was made on the previous night) or at least to change the reservation date for the next day but the manger was not open to any solution except for keeping the money and to follow the cancellation policy ,black and white word by word. I also called the property manager but i received the same answer , cancellation or another date is not possible ,i will just keep the money . Never this happenned before anywhere else in the world , usually in special conditions a hotel manager understands that a flight cancellation due to bad weather is something unexpected and different from a no show but this Azorean hotel ,that i am sure sometimes has the same issue when flying to mainland due to frequent bad weather in the middle of the atlantic, had no mercy , money money money !

We stayed 2 nights here. The location is very central. Rooms are all newly renovated. They were beautiful rooms. The furniture was very nice and the rooms were quite large which isn’t always the case in Europe. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend it.

The room was lovely and clean. There were big windows in the bathroom and bedroom that opened up to a small balcony and view of the street below. It was quiet and the staff are amazing. We have stayed in 3 of the hotels under this company; casa conforto, casa Mercades, and casa arcades. They were all inexpensive, clean, modern and comfortable. We will be returning and this will definitely be where we stay.
