Neat and clean. Perfect location to walk to waterfront for Food and drink. Quiet.

It was surprisingly modern and comfortable - nicer in real life than the pictures, even (which is rare for hotels)

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights during our time in Ponta Delgada. Loved the modern and clean furniture. Very clean, spacious and great location. Nothing bad to say about this place at all. Everything was newly renovated and tastefully done.

We liked the location just a little east of city center but still very central. First floor rooms have very high ceilings. We appreciated the air conditioning in our room (had to work with settings to get it to quiet down). Simply and tastefully decorated. Bathroom was small but adequate. Really liked the skylight in the bathroom. We were in room 8 upstairs which tall people could not use due to beams and narrow doorways.We liked that it was on the quiet back of the house but floors were pretty creaky in our room. Felt badly for people below us. My main criticism is the bed. Queen sized which was hard to find. The Portuguese must love them some hard mattresses. I woke up with a sore back every morning. For that reason I would not recommend the place to anyone if one likes anything softer than a board. If I had slept better, I would have thought the place was an excellent value. We appreciated that staff used whats app for communication. The gentleman who checked us seemed very nice but spoke so fast we only got half of what he said.

Reception non existant. Very noisy facing the road - drunks early in the morning and the traffic on cobbled road. Bedroom extremely basic.

I loved the Casa do Mercado Hotel! We arrived very late at 1:30 am due to a two hour delay of our flight and the staff would still wait for us at the front door. The room was furnished in style and very clean. Everything smelled good. The bed was very comfortable. The next morning our breakfast came in a basket and was waiting for us in front of our door: bread rolls, croissants, cheese, ham, yoghurt, some cornflakes, milk, juice, madeleines, apples, tea and coffee. Unfortunatelly we had to leave for Pico after the breakfast, so the staff arranged a taxi for us.

I liked the kitchen area in my room, but didn’t like the noise from the air conditioning units out on the roof.

great location, old house but recently renovated, I read previous reviews in which the works were still in progress ... now everything is perfect, tastefully furnished. Upon our arrival the staff was waiting for us, they were very kind and helpful throughout. The house is in the city center, on a paved road that is a bit noisy when the cars pass by but with closed windows it is fine. We didn't have breakfast because we left early in the morning. Beautiful common room and a couple of tables abroad in the garden. Recommended

The room had a distinct "new room" aroma, spacious with a modern kitchenette and skylights. The location is splendid with cafes, restaurants and groceries strewn across the neighborhood. The one major problem was schlepping your bags upto the attic--two floors of narrow stairs. Also, did not see any staff anytime on the premises except when we reached the place on our first evening.
