Hyatt Place Chicago/Itasca

The staff could not have been more helpful and nice. They were super friendly with my kids and helped them microwave late night snacks in their kitchen. Beds super comfy.

False advertisement. I booked this location because it said there were 2 pools. The one pool was filthy. You could not see the bottom. The pool ladder rusty and broken. The rooms were party rooms. You could tell the ends of all the wood furniture were used as bottle openers. My room had a chemical smell. But definitely the pool was biggest disappointment. And they really don’t have a bar. It’s 3 or 4 stools that the check in counter services. lol

I would give it 3.5 stars. Overall, Hyatt is a nicer hotel with very spacious rooms. As others have said, you can start to see some wear and tear. The shade was ripped on the window, you can only heat your room to 69 degrees no matter how high you turn it up, it blew cold air and I had to ask for a blanket, the room coffee pot malfunctioned and started spewing hot water all over and I burnt my hand, the light in the bathroom is so dim, you can’t see. Good thing it was just me so I could leave the door open. This was room 102. Some good things were spacious rooms, comfortable bed, quiet, better than normal hotel breakfast, nice sitting area. I would stay again even with the minor issues.

Stayed 4 nights for work. On a snowy and cold day one, there was no hot water. Had to take a cold shower before work. Shower water pressure was very weak, so ended up with a longer shower than anticipated. Had a head cold afterwards that lasted a couple of days. Really ruined my week. Also, not all breakfast items were ready by 6:30AM, so had to wait for some items to be prepared. The staff members seem nice and helpful. Room and bed were fairly comfortable and clean. But my experience was subpar for Hyatt standards.
