Host, Mr Arai is very helpful, friendly and hospitable. We were treated to strawberries and oranges during our stay and Mr Arai offered to drive us to the train station on our last day. Spacious stay, on 2nd level of house, comfortable for 6 guests. 2 double decker beds which are very sturdy, no squeaky noise when tossing and turning in bed. Plenty of pillows, comforters and blankets available. My family of 3 visited early December, very chilly, but there are heaters available in each room. Hot bath available too. House is by the stream, very relaxing and cozy. It is about 6 mins walk away from bus stop.

The location was very central to Nikko, being very close to Toshogu shrine. The host was very kind, and the rooms were very cultural, with futons and a kotatsu. The house had a beautiful view and a wonderful atmosphere.

it’s a tranquil oasis, next to a stream, in the woods and a 10 minute walk to the main road into Nikko. it’s a brilliant respite from busy days sightseeing or hiking.

guest accommodation is upstairs, snd the host lives downstairs. the only thing that would make this place lovelier is if there was a shower upstairs.

We had so much fun at the Midorian! It was a great location, since it was near all the sites we wanted to visit. We really enjoyed the property with the large garden area and the river behind it. But the best part was the amazing host, Arai san! Our daughters (ages 4 and 8) would have been happy to stay at the house the entire trip, since Arai san made it so much fun. At their invitation, he accompanied us to the river several times and even brought a net to help them look for creatures in the water. He also taught them how to catch dragonflies, a skill they have now mastered. :) The girls loved the bunk beds, and I loved the bath, which was always prepared in advance with the perfect temperature of water.

We have no complaints.
