El Cid Castilla Beach

This is now my favorite place to stay when I visit Mazatlán. El Cid has something for everyone to do if you have a large family and kids. Lupita Soto was the sweetest and kindest in teaching us how to do crafts, and she is also very attentive. In Aquaerobics, she is very energetic and recommended several places for us to visit. Everything is beautiful and a perfect vacation to enjoy by the beach.

The buffets were average/below average. I had hair and egg shells in my AM eggs. Dinners at restaurants were good. No music on the beach so the brass bands (tuba, trombone etc) would blast super loud and try to play louder than the next band. Disturbing. We couldn’t hear the beach or waves. The buildings are a little run-down but the cost was low on the stay so it was what we expected.

I was quoted a resort fee by Expedia that was not honoured by the hotel at check in. I am a type 1 diabetic and was charged for a fridge. Our room was not clean and our bedding wasn’t changed unless we were there watching them do it. The money for drinks and food was outrageous! Paid over $7 Can for a beer at the pool?? The elevators sucked. There were a couple of good things: clean drinking water was provided via a tap system. The location of the hotel was convenient to all the restaurants, pubs and markets and the view from the deck was great. Overall if you’re not in the more expensive side of the hotel you will know it and probably regret not spending a bit more at a different hotel.

The view from our 14th floor balcony was outstanding. Our stay was 3 weeks and 3 times we needed to call down for a new access number for wifi. Much more convenient to have it for the entire 3 weeks. The location of the hotel is great. Easy access to shopping, restaurants, bars, etc. The pulmanias are the best invention. Such an easy way to get around.

Awesome heated middle pool. Wish at least 2 pools were heated. Food was hit and missed. Tiered bracelet system was confusing. Never was totally clear what we could/couldn't access. Only able to get reso's for one ala carte the whole week (unless we ate at 9 pm)

Good food and service . Friendly. Pronations a complete waste of time and money.
