Hotel Andaluz Albuquerque, Curio Collection By Hilton

Close to old Town and the Rio grande.

I had booked a 2 night stay by my job as a college recruiter. I had read this hotel was haunted which I had asked about when I checked in. The hotel worker said she didn't know what I was talking about. I checked out the 4th floor where I read there were some apparitions. What is weird is they have a room skipped and material blocking the light from the bottom of the door - I read there is a room that is haunted on this floor. Well, maybe it was in my head, but I ended up sleeping with the lights on and TV on all night thinking about ghosts because that in itself is odd (I've stated at an insane amount of hotels and have yet to see that). The next day I come back from work, shut the door. I end up sitting on the bed, chatting with my boyfriend about how I could not sleep all night the night before and how silly I was. I had been sitting for about 5 minutes when I heard something thud in the bathroom. It was my hair straighter I had used about 4 hours prior before I left for work that morning. I left it on the counter with the cord wrapped around. Ghost or the hair straighter randomly falling 4 hours later? That is for you to decide. But I ended up with another sleepless night with lights on and the TV on. Nice hotel, no complaints....but the hair straightener....

Although the historic building and lobby are stunning the rooms are in a terrible state of disrepair and yet the hotel charges a nightly rate that would reflect a premium property. I had stayed here before it was owned by Hilton after it was originally opened as Andaluz and loved it. Yet years of inattention really show and leave a sour taste. It's also the only hotel I've stayed that preemptively provides earplugs, and boy do you need them. Noisy is an understatement. I mentioned the issues with the room quality and the staffs response was an acknowledgment saying they just refurbished the lobby and they know the rooms are old. Yet no offer of resolution nor apology for the state of the room. At $300+ per night the condition is simply unacceptable in my opinion.

Downtown Albuquerque is a happening place, but not in a good way. Hundreds of souped up vehicles meet up close to Andaluz and roar around until 4 a.m. The hotel itself is clean, beds comfy, staff personable. As long time Hilton clients, it was fun to stay in Conrad Hilton's first hotel.

Lovely historic hotel in downtown. Nicely updated, specially the lobby. Restaurant is great. Bar even better. Room was nice but never cleaned over a two night stay. Otherwise the stay went well.

Staff was great - I was on the 8th floor and the room was very quiet (I was there for the Duke's City marathon) and was able to get a good night's sleep.

I self parked in the garage next to the hotel. As a single woman, I didn't feel safe going to the garage. I recommend using the valet service.

The hotel was upmarket and in a central location. Room was very comfortable.

Location. Beautiful historic hotel. Music in the Lobby. Shuttle to airport. Walking distance from Amtrak.

I checked in late at night and was sent to 2 occupied rooms before I was given a vacant room. Room was comfortable and clean

Although I mentioned it the first day on a four day stay, and several times after, the vanity light in the bathroom was never fixed. It was dark in the bathroom.
