The Prestige Hotel Penang, a Member of Design Hotels

We had a fantastic time at the Prestige Hotel; all the staff were very helpful & the service was excellent. Breakfast was delicious & and added bonus the had gluten free bread!!!! Our room was beautiful with a very unusual shower 'box'! The hotel was right in the middle of George Town so great for exploring. The roof top pool was an added bonus with lovey views, the gym was a little small but enough there for a quick workout. All in all an excellent hotel.

Beautiful hotel in a really excellent location for access to George Town. The staff were incredibly welcoming, helpful and friendly - extremely hospitable. The pool is stunning and the gym whilst on the small side is great. Really good to have filtered water on tap in the room. Air con great and super quiet.

Bar prices are expensive comparative to the local area - RM30 for a small bottle of beer. Food by contrast fairly comparable to other George Town restaurants. Laundry service expensive - locally sourced alternative was 80% cheaper than the price forecasted by the hotel service

This was a last stop of my Penang trip and gosh it was great! I didn't do much research and it was surprising to me that the Michelin Nasi Lemak and jetty(transit to Butterworth) was within walking distance. I stayed at Marriott Penang and The Millen before coming here, without announcing my birthday. The Prestige was the only hotel arranged a birthday cake for me. And the doorman actually escorted me all the way to room plus wishing me happy birthday. Didn't expect that. Wow. Room was unique like you can see in picture... the decor and glass-concept. Good shower good sleep, free minibar. Pool was small but breathtaking view and it has a vibe you can't get elsewhere. Felt like being in a different world, time-travel almost. No wonder people were lounging there(pool) even it's crowded. I don't come here to watch TV but this hotel offers tons of free movies.... good to kill time if you're caught in rain couldn't go out; or if you just want to spend time in room. The breakfast was awesome. Simple but tasty - with friendly staff. The staffs were really like neighbours next door kind of approachable. It was indoor but having plenty of sunlight it's very al fresco. Didn't expect the stay to be this satisfying. I will be back for sure.

The staff were great, especially the porters, housekeeping and breakfast staff. Not so much the check in staff, though they were fine. The room was spacious and clean though the stained chair was off putting. The free mini bar drinks, fruit and toiletries in the room went above and beyond what we would expect. And the free films were great too. The pool area was lovely with a fabulous view, not many sunbeds though. The location was good for Georgetown.

We were disappointed with the location of our room as there was no view whatsoever, just a high hedge beyond which were the walls of buildings. There were some thoughtful touches at breakfast: a little oven to warm pastries and soy milk. The breakfast had all of the main offerings though some individual items could have been slightly better: better quality yoghurt and cereals and more fruit.

The corridors are distinctly modernist, with sharp angular lines and low warm lights, contrasting with the refined Victorian-era facade. The monochrome palette is livened by gentle pastels and highlights in brass and gold, alongside natural greenery positioned tastefully. Room Rooms at The Prestige Hotel Penang are a comfortable sanctuary, cool in temperature with good air-conditioning and decorative wallpaper of greenery which lends a sense of calm. Clever use of mirrors and lights keep the place bright without harshness, and the bathroom and toilet were great. The bed was large and comfortable, offering good back and neck support. The complimentary in-room mini bar was restocked daily, and I loved the dining and working desk. Food Food at The Prestige Hotel Penang is offered at the all-day dining The Glasshouse Restaurant, or the Michelin-Guide recommended Gēn 根 fine-dining modern restaurant which interprets Malaysian flavours with curated local and seasonal ingredients, artfully presented by Chef Johnson Wong. The Glasshouse Restaurant also offers in-room dining, with selected dishes boasting local or international flavours, alongside a small selection of seasonal offerings. Service Service at The Prestige Hotel Penang was warm without being intrusive, with staff quick to offer help, and genuinely attentive to small details. They proactively offer assistance with luggage or doors, warmly greeting each guest. Housekeeping was efficient and observant, while restaurant and reception staff were always ready with recommendations. I felt like I was being looked after by people who took pride in their work. Facilities & Activities The facilities and activities at The Prestige Hotel Penang are adequate. The beautiful rooftop infinity swimming pool was a hit with its expansive views, and the nearby gazebo offered cooling shade. The gymnasium was well-equipped, but small. The wi-fi was fast and stable throughout the hotel, and the shopping arcade was interesting. Didn't manage to try out the Whispering Wellness spa as they were closed across Chinese New Year / Lunar New Year 2026. Overall, I would recommend staying at The Prestige Hotel Penang, and hope to return again!
