The Prestige Hotel Penang, a Member of Design Hotels

Location was great - close to seafront and beautiful colonial buildings. Within easy walking distance of all the action in Georgetown. The rooftop area is great. The daily pop-up cocktail bar is nice. Drinks by the infinity pool looking out to sea are relished.

The gym wasn’t great for a hotel of this rating. More free weights and a bench would make a big difference. Room service food wasn’t very good unfortunately.

What a beautiful hotel. We booked this be because it was only 5 mins or so walk to reach the Indian quarter but extremely quiet at night. Fantastic room with a very large and comfortable bed. We didn’t have breakfast as preferred to eat on the go. Great selection of films on the tv. Easy reach to walk anywhere!

All the staff were welcoming, attentive, and always ready to assist. We were initially skeptical of the high cleanliness ratings in other reviews, but were pleasantly surprised to find them accurate - every surface in the room was spotless. The room was spacious, featuring a round writing table with two chairs and a long glass countertop that offered ample space. While the drawers were a bit shallow and needed a quick wipe, this minor issue didn’t detract from the overall experience. The large enclosed shower had excellent water pressure and drainage, and the provided shampoo, conditioner, and body soap gave a spa-like feel. The toilet was located in a separate room from the main bathroom, which added convenience. We also loved having a dedicated water‑filter tap in the bathroom. It sat right beside the regular faucet, making it incredibly easy to refill bottles and reduce plastic waste — a thoughtful, eco‑friendly touch that more hotels should adopt. We also appreciated the thoughtful amenities: a steam iron, daily replenished complimentary drinks in the mini fridge, and a candy jar - small touches that made our stay especially enjoyable.

The daily complimentary drinks in the mini fridge weren’t automatically replenished, and we had to notify the front desk so they could inform housekeeping.

The moment you walk into this hotel you feel welcome and you know you are going to enjoy your stay. The hotel certainly gets the wow factor, it is beautifully and tastefully decorated with a fresh garden/conservatory feel. The bedrooms are quite luxurious, with a nice powerful, hot shower, seperate toilet and a very comfy bed with the best hotel pillows I have ever had. The minibar is free and there are some sweets in a jar in the room as well as the usual toiletries in the bathroom, which I didn't like to use as they were so beautifully packaged into a wooden frame with a picture of the hotel on the front. The rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels left every day, even when we didn't leave them on the floor to be replaced. My only issue with the room was the inability to use the lovely balcony area as the windows were not full length, so we were unable to step outside. Having said that the roof-top pool area is amazing with breath-taking views over the Andaman Sea. There aren't many sun loungers, but whenever I went up to the roof top there were always loungers available. There was an extensive range of foods for breakfast including traditional Malaysian/Chinese/Indian hot foods, salads, different breads and spreads, cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts, porridge, eggs and a range of juices and hot drinks including Indian Chai. All the staff at this hotel are amazing and cannot do enough to help you. Anything you ask for they will try their best to help you with. I had difficulty with a local sim card that I had purchased and Mr Giri and Mr Kushal from Reception spent over half an hour of their precious time helping me with this and it was a real life saver, many thanks to them. All the staff made our stay in George Town one of the best holidays we have ever had. They all work extremely hard to make their guests welcome and many said to us that if we are happy then they are happy because of this I feel I have to mention some of their names and they are: Mr Zain, Mr Prakash, Mr Sunil, Chef Yusri, Mus, Rana, Adam, Robin and Mr Awang We also had the pleasure of meeting the Owner of the hotel as it was Chinese New Year and he had come to see the Dragon Dance at the front of the hotel and we had our picture taken with him and some of the staff, which also made our holiday one of the most memorable. The Prestige Hotel is modern and comfortable in the heart of George Town, a short walk from the beautiful old town. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are lovely - I was a bit unsure at first about having the shower within the bedroom, but it actually works! Clever design. Lots of little touches in the room make it feel luxurious. The pool is nice with a good view. The gym is adequate and feels bigger than it actually is due to lots of mirrors. Good breakfast and staff are excellent and attentive. Overall a really good stay. We came in Chinese New Year which I highly recommend for tourists from overseas. Lots going on in Penang to celebrate!

Really nice hotel in Penang. Modernised old building. Staff were all exceptional ands friendly Big thanks to the front desk , concierge and bar staff. Breakfast while good was a bit chaotic and unstructured. Staff were great but processes maybe need reviewing. Liked the pool as a great place to cool off. Very close to the old town Would be happy to stay there again

Rooms are pretty, love the free movies, food was good.
