White Lion Royal Hotel

Room 309 on third floor was comfortable nice big shower. Bed was great, clean towels etc. Staff were friendly.

The entrance to the hotel was via the front door and squeezing past a load of drunk men. Water leak from the ceiling by reception and buckets on the floor, it happens but not a good look. The fan in the bathroom had what looked like 12 months worth of dust hanging from it, never been cleaned. Absolutely gross. What really spoilt the stay for us was a loud noise every 5 minutes or so that sounded like a macerator or some kind of pump kicking off, hardly slept at all. This went on all night long.

The room was tiny. The lavatory and shower were in separate closets

Excellent location. Breakfast passable.

No fruit for breakfast. No plug in basin. Shower holder broken. Wardrobe lock broken - door swinging wide open all the time.

Location was exactly what we wanted, vehicle parking was enough, good range of drinks behind the bar. Room was clean, good shower.

Breakfast was limited, no smiles with the service, when I asked if I could have an Omelette the answer was 'we don't do Omelettes!' second day, when I asked for poached eggs on toast instead of fried or scrambled the answer was again 'we don't do poached'. I then opted for scrambled, when this came it was running in butter - never known anyone to put butter in scrambled eggs! Although breakfast only cost £10 so what can you expect. The Sunday evening we decided to eat in the hotel, when I asked for a table I was met with 'we stop serving at 5pm'. not once during check in did anyone inform us of this - was a bonus though as we found a Bistro cafe across the road which was excellent.

My room was on 3rd floor, exceedingly hot, no fan. Bed was poor quality. Very noisy being on High Street.

Spacious room,good staff,coffee and biscuits ,cartons of water,food was delicious,tv in room very good facilityfor my teenage boys

Could food be available after 5pm on a sunday ,it was noisy in the street after midnight
