Simsbury 1820 House

Sheryl and other staff at the Simsbury 1820 House were so accommodating and helpful. Will definitely come back and highly recommend this property.

Beautiful inn. Wonderful location. Great staff.

We stayed in the Carriage House and loved it. Coffee on the 1820 House porch watching the sun come up over the meadow with the Talcott Mountain Ridge. Simsbury is a great place to have a summertime slowdown.

We've stayed at 1820 before, but paid for a suite this time. The relatively small amount of money to upgrade was well worth it as we were there for 5 days and the extra room with sofa was well used. The view from the central original entrance was beautiful. The furniture and decor was a bit sparse in the "living room". The bathroom is kind of small, but well-appointed. The mini-fridge was welcome, and the free cold waters offered constantly was much appreciated in the blazing hot weather. Comfortable four poster bed, quiet at night. Lots of couples and mother-daughter getaways. The breakfast is a good continental style, with pastries provided and baked at the larger sister property, although I personally miss the cold meat/cheese plate previously offered. One of our favorite features is the facilities at the sister property, available to 1820 as well: the lovely indoor pool, the pickleball courts and grounds. We loved the 1820 afternoon gratis wine, and the live music. We did not eat in the restaurant; next time. The staff is unfailingly helpful and cheerful. Set far back, but on a main street with a small grocery, restaurants, and sites nearby. Not cheap, not overly expensive. We will no doubt stay here again.

The espresso machine was never fixed, but the automated pod coffee maker was just fine.

Average stay. room was kind of dirty for the price

This Inn is an excellent get away spot. We had family in the adjacent Carriage House as well as the main Inn. The Service is excellent with a great greeting as you sign in. Your stay comes with a great continental breakfast each morning. There is also a wonderful restaurant at the inn that has an excellent wait staff. The kitchen did a great job and the food was delicious, especially the Sea Bass!! After a quick trip this is a place you want to come back too.

Alot of stairs but worth it

At first I thought “ what did I get myself into” because the hotel is old . But then quickly realized that it’s old but high quality hotel . Awesome staff members such as Sarah , Glen and maintenance guy Joseph . The property and its surroundings are AMAZING ! And a pleasure to explore the wilderness / suburbs settings along with the creativity of the town of Simsbury . Plenty of restaurants and stores nearby immediately. They have a park/ frog pond in back of 1820 Hotel along with walking trail and plenty of baby frogs . Room I had was very small but I still enjoyed the 4 day stay nonetheless. I appreciated that they have the cleaning crew closet door in hallway and did not lock it therefore I was able to grab the vacuum cleaner anytime I needed it which I enjoyed since I was traveling with my dog and he sheds a lot . They have a sister hotel named Simsbury Inn about 5 minutes away on same road, where you can use the gym/ and awesome in-ground swimming and in-ground Jacuzzi from early morning up until 10 PM. I had a very enjoyable time and was highly impressed not only with the town of Simsbury but also with Hotel 1820.
