Dan'l Webster Inn and Spa

Our stay at The Dan’l Webster Inn & Spa was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. The room was fantastic – clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The staff went above and beyond, with an energy that was both friendly and genuinely helpful, making us feel right at home. Dining in the Tavern was a true highlight. The food was exceptional, with daily specials that were nothing short of unbelievable. A special shoutout to Nick, the bartender, who kept the entire room laughing all night with his humor, spot-on cocktail creations, and perfect recommendations. He truly elevated the experience. The only downside to our stay? We had to leave and it was a little cool to relax in the beautiful pool! We can’t wait for the chance to return to this gem of a resort. Finally, a huge shout out the front desk crew. They were the definition of welcoming.

The Dan’l Webster inn Where to begin. 4 stars… don’t make me laugh. This hotel may have been able to achieve a 4 star rating many years ago however, now it is, in my opinion, closer to a 2. When I first entered the property, the old furniture was the first thing to strike me. Now, I understand and can appreciate hotels trying to keep an old timely theme and think it can be beautiful and elegant when done right, however this old furnishing just seemed worn and old hat. We went upstairs to our room via the stairs as there is no elevator at the hotel which isn’t a major problem for us as we can appreciate it isn’t a huge place. Once upstairs and walking to our room the smell that hit me was what I can only describe as old/mouldy. A comparison that sprung to mind was that off your grandparents house. It was not pleasant and old is the best way to describe it. Entering the room. Again, the furnishings were old (and not in a nice way as mentioned above). I’ll give it its dues, the room was clean however, it looks like it was furnished in 1940-60’s and hasn’t been changed since. The tv is too small for the room. And one of the worst things is the A/C which is like a diesel tractor engine when running (LOUD). The bathroom is again old (I know this is becoming a common theme throughout this review but it is the best way to describe a lot of things). The shower is poor for water pressure and although clean, is a one piece shower install which is something from many years gone by. The room is also spooky and creepy. Would not put it past this place to be haunted although I don’t know that to be a fact. The pool area. What could be almost a 4 star area, again is lacking. Clean towels on hand which was nice and plenty of deck chairs however the hot tub was green and looked to be mouldy. Breakfast. Appalling. The glasses that you serve yourself juices in are like something out of a medieval castle. 2 types of pastry on offer. Bread for toast with some packets of butter/jams. Some options of cereal in small boxes. The black coffee is okay though as far as black coffee goes. Now I’m trying not to be negative about everything so I’ll give you the good things. The parking is plentiful. It is in a nice area (Sandwich) which is peaceful and quite however not loads to do there so we found ourselves driving to nearby towns a lot of the time for activities and food. All in all, the hotel is out dated and needs a good bit of money spent on it to bring it into modern day (or even into the 90’s)! It has the potential to be one of the best places to stay in cape cod, however until the owners reach deep into their pockets, this place is old hat and has seen better days (probably about 50 years ago).

Considering the money we spent for 3 nights at this property, I would say it is average at best, mainly because of our room. The bed was quite uncomfortable and so high that you could barely get in it. And I'm 6ft tall. The sound of the a/c going on and off was also incredibly loud and we also had issues just turning on the shower each day. I realize this place is over 300 years old and recently re-opened but again for the money spent, I expected better. Despite all that we had a fantastic time in Sandwich and the surrounding area. Best part about the Inn was its pool and hot tub. And the staff is very friendly and accommodating. 5 stars on that.

This was the most quaint property I’ve ever stayed at. The rooms were large and lovely with updated bathrooms, a fireplace and quintessential Cape Cod decor. The property itself was in a cute little area of town and had beautiful landscaping. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway or even a girls trip (I heard the spa was amazing), look no further. We will definitely be back!

We loves the charm of the inn and our room. The rooms and hotel was very clean. It is conveniently located in town and walkable distance to many shops and restaurants in the area. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Of note, breakfast is included on weekdays but on weekends the hotel provided vouchers for use toward breakfast in the dining hall. We had dinner at the dining hall and it was very good. We would definitely stay here again. - Family of 4 with two young kids.
