Comfort Inn Gurnee near Six Flags

Took forever to check in, there was no one at the desk. The room was dirty and gross. I didn’t even want to touch the nasty doors.

Check in was easy, first was given the wrong room glad someone was not in there, staff was friendly first night 2nd night could have been better. Once in room towels still had hair on them could have been cleaned better. Smoke detector was gone, couch very dirty, bed was a bed and the AC worked. First and last time here.

The only positive thing I can say is about Sanya, the young lady at the front. She attempted to help though it was not her problem to correct. She was kind and understanding. She called her manager at around 10pm to get approval to refund our room.She was unable to reach him as he was “already asleep”. She reassured us and booking.com that when her manager was awake the next day it would be done.

The external property at a glance appears ok. Walking in I was greeted with a smile and welcoming feeling. The front desk area is tidy and clean. That’s about where the cleanliness ends. The back part of the building is littered with trash and overflowing garbage onto the ground. The parking lot is a disgusting mess of fast food scraps and soda remnants accompanied by condiment packet splatters and portion cup lid aioli splotches. The back hall staircase is in need of some repairs as there are holes cut into the wall that some bored kid roaming the halls pondering “ding ding ditching” guests rooms could easily stick their arm or foot into. I digress. Back to the cleanliness. Our room at a first glance appeared tidy, clean, smelled decent. Once we started to get comfy is where it unraveled. Now I understand how stupid hard it is to get hair off of ANYTHING in a bathroom but it IS possible to get most of it with a little effort. This bathroom looked like someone shaved some dark n curlier and pasted them on the bath tub and…. HAIRDRYER handle. Of all places. Must’ve needed a fluffing after the trim? Idk but not sigma. Then there’s the beds. Stains on the comforter. The sheets? Looked like someone took a shower and sat on the sheet. And the hair followed from the bathroom. I’m sensing a theme here. I wish I had inside pics but it was the last thing on my mind as I packed up my family’s belongings and trudged them back down to the car (carefully avoiding the Panda Expess sauce ooze and Coke bottle explosion) while the kids were swimming. We were told we needed to “leave immediately” or we wouldn’t be refunded. A quote from Sanya’s manager. Anyway. We ended up leaving and heading next door to Wingate by Wyndham. Got a nice clean room. Went down to get ice and who do I see speaking with the night person but SANYA from next door!

The people in charge went out of their way to accommodate me when I was in a difficult situation. They were kind, thoughtful, and exactly the type of people who should be running this place. Their hospitality skills were great! The housekeeper was so very kind as well.

I do wish there were more options for breakfast.

The shower tub drain clug it was bad experience to get a shower

The room that me and my family were in was disgusting . I saw a bug crawling from under the bed so I decided to move the bed to kill it . Upon moving the bed I seen a whole bunch of food on the floor under both beds . That was very disgusting, and unsanitary .

Staff were very friendly. The customer service is great!

The pool needs maintenance the water quality was a turn off it seemed so dirty. We did not dare get in which is as a bummer because my kids really wanted to swim. It is also very small so only one family can go in at the time. The breakfast was very basic. Could do better.

Property was in a good area and staff was nice! Walls not very thick tho so it can get noisy
