Merrill House

Excellent petit déjeuner, personnel souriant, beau grand terrain à l’arrière, 5 minutes à pied du centre—ville de Picton, tout était parfait!

Good location.

Our standard double room was more like a small single. One side of the bed was against the wall so no bedside table for glasses, kindle or water. Not acceptable for the price. I was looking forward to the Gourmet breakfast but sadly it did not live up to its name. Very limited choice, omelet or french toast plus a small buffet with nice bread. No description of the contents of the omelet. I couldn't eat it as it had some runny cheese in it totally unsuitable for an omelet and not to my taste. Also very odd that we had to book a time for breakfast and my preferred time was not available. Reception staff start at 11.00 just after we had already self checked out. I sent various messages via booking.com as the waiter said he would try to waive the charge for breakfast but this did not happen. I was then told that there would nit be anyone with authority to refund the breakfast for 4 more days I am pleased to say that it was ultimately refunded. Some of the furnishings were bizarre such as a chair on our ceiling

Absolutely wonderful from start to finish! Merrill House has been beautifully renovated. It's a mix of antique charm and contemporary luxury. Each room has been meticulously decorated and is a pleasure to look at. Every detail has been thought about and carefully executed. Our room was so comfortable. Details to make the room luxurious, like the spectacular shower, four dressing gowns (a light and a warm one for men and for women), a fridge with soda and sparkling water, a welcome package with delicious treats, a whisper-quiet Dyson hair dryer, TV with Netflix and Prime available for your personal account. Both dinner and breakfast were memorable meals. The staff were helpful and friendly. Can't praise it enough.

I loved the location and the unique charm of the rooms, each had its own character, which made the stay feel special and was exactly what drew us to book here.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the AC to work in the room, as it was preset to only allow heat. This made the room quite warm for me and my husband. Additionally, the bed was not very comfortable, which made it difficult for us to get a good night’s sleep.

We recently booked 2 nights at Merrill house as we had a wedding in Picton. The hotel was perfect. We used one room to have a fun morning getting ready for the wedding and also experienced a group dinner at their restaurant in the evening. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful for pre wedding photos. The staff were friendly and helpful (a big thank you to Beth, Melanie and Madeleine). Dinner and breakfast was delicious and if you book direct the breakfast is included. Do not hesitate to book here. You will love it.
