Disappointed with breakfast at their restaurant but the restaurant is beautiful. Their Mexican restaurant was ok.

The main lobby areas and pool were really great. The staff was also very nice

The hotel is old and rooms are in real need of updating. The toilet wobbled, the shower curtain bar was coming off the wall, the shower had missing grout and had signs of mildew or mold. The carpet and furniture was old and worn. Also do not get a room facing the pedestrian mall. The noise was bad well past 3:30 am. The prices at the bar were 5 star hotel prices but it was more like a 2-3 star hotel experience.

The hotel is special and was lavishly decorated for the holidays. Food is good, but expensive.

I was double billed and it took 4 phone calls and 2 weeks for them to rectify their error.

Staff was rude and constantly checked our room keys. Especially the security dude who literally followed us to the round staircase. He literally asked us if we were lost and then asked for room keys. Lol it felt a bit racist as we ate spanish speakers. Then, he stuck around and suggested that we don't lean on the thin railing. It was a weird experience.Overall bartenders and servers are pretty unhappy to be there.

The artifacts and structures and all the art was phenomenal.

I saved for months for this few hours spent here. My room smelled of mildew, my door was flooded with water up past my ankles. This place is absolutely magnificent but needs some love. All of my windows had water damage and the paint started to bubble and mold. I’m not one to complain. So I didn’t. But for the money I saved to experience this history maybe someone should do a good once over the rooms-again. This was half a months income for me to stay less than 12 hours. Maybe I expected more. The staff were absolutely amazing!

We booked two rooms. Upon arrival, only one was ready; the second—reserved for my 85-year-old mother—was not. Check-in took about 15 minutes, and we were told we would be notified when the second room was ready. That notification never came. Several hours later, we went to dinner at the hotel restaurant for our 6:30 PM reservation and were not seated until nearly 8:00 PM. This was especially confusing because the restaurant was only about half full with many open tables. Waiting that long with an elderly family member and four children under five was extremely frustrating. The food was average to below average. For entrées priced around $60, expectations were much higher. Multiple people at our table felt the same—nothing terrible, but absolutely not worth the price. Throughout the evening, we repeatedly checked on the status of my mother’s room. Around 8:30 PM, after waiting in line at the front desk, we were finally told it was ready. Again, no text or call as promised. We understand this is a historic property and expect some dated elements. That said, there were serious maintenance and cleanliness issues. The bathroom door in our room repeatedly locked itself when no one was inside, requiring multiple maintenance calls. While staff responded quickly, this should not happen at all. More concerning, there was visible black mold around the bathroom sink, which is unacceptable at any hotel. Light seepage through the balcony doors was another issue. Many hotels—historic or not—have effective blackout solutions. This one clearly does not. We were also surprised that during the Christmas season, the chapel was completely closed. Given that it is a major highlight of the property, this felt like a missed opportunity for guests hoping to take photos or enjoy a quiet moment. Checkout was the worst part of the stay. We waited approximately 40 minutes in line with small children, a pregnant wife, and an elderly parent. The front desk staff did not acknowledge the line at all while answering phones and working behind the desk. To add to the frustration, an airline crew walked in and was immediately helped ahead of everyone waiting. I travel frequently for work and stay at hotels around the world. While the property’s lights and historic charm are nice, service and operations here fall far short. We spoke with several other guests who felt the same way. Unfortunately, this is not a place we would return to, nor would we dine here again. The experience simply was not worth the cost.
