Residence Inn by Marriott Durango Downtown

A little bit dated. Room was spacious.

This hotel served our needs. We stayed 1 night passing through to another destination. This hotel was not downtown. It’s about a 10-15 walk to downtown. 1. Our room was a 2 bedroom suite and it was clean and well maintained. 2. Parking is tight. We were pulling a trailer and parked near a shipping container in back. 3. Bfast was ok. My husband loved it. It was very similar to most hotel breakfasts. Nothing special. 4. This is my only complaint, this hotel accepts pets (which is completely fine), but in the hallway there was a man walking two small dogs. My husband backed up to let them pass with plenty of room. The man allowed his dogs more slack on the leash and they jumped up on my husband and one of the dogs bit his hand. Even though this is out of the hotels control, it’s worth mentioning in my review bc if you have pet allergies or small children, be mindful.

We enjoyed the extra room of their 2bdrm suite but given the pool was cold and dark (not family friendly), no ice machines available, parking available only at an extra charge, breakfast was hit and miss for a Residence Inn was vastly overpriced.

It was really good.

The beds were very hard and everyone had backaches and could not sleep.

We went to check in to this hotel that we had previously reserved. When we arrived late afternoon, we were informed that they did not have available rooms and sent us to a sister hotel down the street. This has never happened before and it was very disappointing. Never trust your reservations at this hotel, even if it is prepaid like ours was.

John at the front desk was the most helpful and super friendly. He knew our last name and would greet us by our name when we went to and from. By far the most helpful staff member. Rooms were great, beds were comfortable. I would say the hotel as a hotel could use a remodel but overall was a great stay. Close walking distance to town as well.

This hotel charges a slew of fees, which they do not make readily obvious. From what we could tell, they even charge a cleaning fee! AND a parking fee! This is so irritating that we decided not to stay here. Just be aware that even if you ask that "all" fees be explained up front, this hotel will not tell you about these extra charges. Shame.
