Econo Lodge Hornell

Hotel is old and very badly kept. Rooms say nonsmoking but reek of cigarettes. Typical horrible motel not hotel. We drove 5 hours and there was nothing else available once we got here and had no choice but to stay. The person checking me in kept asking me to pay when in fact I had already paid through hotels.com! Had I been alone, I’d have slept in my car rather than in this hotel!! But it was too many of us to sleep in the car. Lesson learned!

We were told to go in the back door since we had a boat parked near the back. The back door had trash bags sitting outside and a dead bird on the sidewalk. There was no lock on the back door even after dark. Our room wasn’t locked and was partially open when we arrived. The floor was sticky, the room smelled and everything looked like it needed to be updated. I don’t usually make reviews unless I really like something but this was really bad. It wasn’t expensive but had I known how bad this was going to be I would have kept trying to find something else. In the morning the trash bags had been torn apart and there was trash all over the ground. The upside was that whatever tore open the trash bags also took the dead bird. It was gross.

Check in was quick and easy, friedly staff. Motel was very outdated. Smell of smoke in hallway leading to our room. Pictures on the website are very outdated. Overall room was ok, you get what you pay for.

There are bed bugs so I didn’t even stay.

Staff were friendly but not well informed. Room was clean but Ill equipped. Bed had sheets and pillows with a very thin covering. No blankets. Two towels/hand towels/washcloths were provided for a double room reservation for 3 people. No shower liner and water was not able to be contained inside tub. Tub had a squishy tan bathmat on the floor but it was unpleasant to use. Toilet did not have good enough pressure. Bathroom was in need of upgrading and only soap and shampoo were available. Walls had patches on drywall. Beds were clean but on a weird wooden platform that made them sway. Hot water was sparse. Mini fridge was clean. Microwave worked. Heating controls were easy to understand. Breakfast was not available despite documentation in the room saying it was and not informed of the change. Parking lot was well maintained, well lit, and there was very little noise. Cheap place to stay in a pinch but no comforts.
