"Well positioned room to go sight seeing"

6.0

Room was clean and tidy

Staff on arrival gave a poor welcome, and very little interaction given throughout the stay - stayed 2 nights no welcome or goodbye as we went past the bar to go in and out Whole place smelt of human waste on the first day due to an issue with the toilets (was being dealt with) Due to this no breakfast available did try with bits in the room to make up for it but no contact beforehand to advise or apology on arrival

"My favourite pub in York"

10.0

A pub I always look forward to visiting on any holiday I take to York is The Golden Fleece Pub, over the years I've been this pub on many occasions, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit to here. This is a great looking pub ,housed in a building dating from 1503 ,the pub was established in 1656 ,interior is superb, dark wood features abound throughout this pub, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, eclectic decor and furnishings including death masks and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its just a really good pub to unwind in. We were here on a beautiful but bitterly cold March night, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, we sat in their back room ,we had a study of their real ale's and beers which I must say I was impressed with, in the end we both opted to have pale ale's from Brew York Brewery, these were served in pristine condition, we chilled out and planned out the night ahead while sipping our pale ale's. A big fan of the beer range brewed by Brew York Brewery, in fact the brewery and tap room is only a ten minute walk from The Golden Fleece Pub along Walmgate ,worth visiting in its own right, their pale ale is really good ,golden in colour, crisp in taste, hoppy, hints of toffee, a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a smooth finish, a classic British pale ale served in a classic British pub, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew and sat with my twin brother, best beer companion in the world. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here, couldn't fault anything about our visit here to The Golden Fleece Pub and as on every other visit to here we had a great time. The Golden Fleece Pub is easy to locate along Pavement. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 10am till midnight. A great pub, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area or planning a holiday to York.

"Book it - you won’t be disappointed"

10.0

Centrally located in the Shambles check in was simple and easy. All the staff were friendly. Room was very comfortable and quirky the floors and walls are on the wonky side. The shower was large and powerful. Toiletries included were high quality items. Towels were fluffy and breakfast and coffee delicious. Messages sent from Golden Fleece before arrival very helpful and informative. Arrived before check in and was able to store luggage and go exploring.

Only downside is nearby parking expensive in the city of York. Found a hidden gem that you can pay to park at the local Morrisons about 10 mins walk and cost £16 for over night parking. The larger car parking ( Q parking at the shambles would have been £60)
