Since last year, I would say that the rooms and general facilities have improved, specifically the bedding - which was very good this year. The location is ideal and the breakfasts are reasonable and quick to come out.

Overall, the hotel needs some updates - the corridor leading to the rooms is dirty and in places uneven and threadbare. The rooms appear to have been given some attention, but concerns over safety - the room locks / handles were in poor condition, some barely attached, also the Fire Exits are left wide open all day and night - this is on both floors and given that both mornings there was someone sleeping in the garden, this did concern me. Appreciate that this is a hotel/Pub, but the first night we stayed, there was an 18th birthday party - the bedrooms are so close that the noise was very loud - too loud to be able to sleep - and the last thirty minutes the music was turned up, with a heavy bass, making it impossible to get any sleep. We spoke to management that evening, who empathised, but ultimately there was nothing that could be done.

The location was perfect after a tiring day at Drayton Manor and we were very happy with just a 3 minute drive. Parked up at the back of the pub, checked in and then came back down for a drink and some really lovely food. I had cottage pie & my son had spaghetti bolognese. Staff were very friendly too and very welcoming. We had breakfast next day too, which was also very nice. The prices of both dinner & breakfast were great too ... great value for money. Seen reviews previously saying no kettle in the rooms but there was ... and provided tea & coffee.

Only things were no chair in the room for the dressing table. There was no hairdryer but I'd brought my own. I'd also packed our own fan, which we were glad of as it was a hot evening & night. Our room overlooked the car park and we could hear some noise but what else would you expect staying over a pub eh? Not bad noise ... just cars & chatting etc. And I was only in the room earlyish as I had a young child with me and noise stopped after pub closing time.

I would it maybe noisey at a weekend. It's perfect for the money
