Very clean quiet and spacious rooms with very comfortable bed

Bring bottle water since the city water is stinky. In room bottles were $6 :-(

Clean, nice staff, but in true Marriott fashion, there is nothing complimentary, but rather an upcharge for everything; water, parking, coffee. Special requests cannot always be fulfilled, I understand, but foam pillows for those with down allergies must be provided. The walls are so thin that you can hear everything. We only slept a couple of hours because there was a late party going on, and I woke up wheezing and with puffy eyes because of the pillows. The hotel is convenient to stop if traveling north south because of proximity to the Garden State Parkway. The area feels safe as well. If not for the noise and pillows I would return because of the convenient and safe location and pleasant staff.

Accommodations were fine though not exceptional. Front desk clerk was very pleasant and professional. Decor in common areas and in the room is very bland and corporate. Room lacked effective sound-proofing — conversations in the hall and in nearby rooms sounded as if they were in our room. I was pleased when we arrived to note that the lobby bar looked inviting, then was disappointed to find that it was completely shut down at 9 pm on a Friday (yes, I know there's an adjoining restaurant, but that's not as convenient as popping down to the lobby for a nightcap). I did not expect to be charged for parking — I can't remember ever having been charged for parking at a suburban hotel, in fact, and while I suppose I may have been notified somehow of the parking fee when I booked, if so then that information was pretty well hidden in the small print.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The property is lovely and very clean. Loved the restaurant.

I booked a room here because I had my wedding reception at Fire & Oak. I specifically requested a room with a view, but was given a ground-level room near the entrance. It ended up being very noisy around 1 AM, as guests from another wedding were constantly coming in and out of the hall — definitely not what I wanted on my wedding night. At check-in, it was clear I was the bride (I was still in my gown), so I expected a little more care or at least to be given the room I requested. I booked for 2 guests but was only given 1 breakfast, so I had to pay extra. For breakfast, I chose the 2 egg meal. Each came with 2 eggs, bacon (no option to substitute — we don’t eat pork), burnt potatoes, regular coffee, and toast. At least the eggs and toast were good, but overall the meal was not good. Overall, I was really disappointed, especially considering this was supposed to be a special and memorable night.

Old rundown place need remodeling up to date.
