Courtyard by Marriott Montvale

We had fully paid for our room through Hotels.com. I checked with the receptionist at check-in who acknowledged that the room was fully pre-paid. Nevertheless, at time of check out we saw that our credit card included a duplicate cost for the room. The second receptionist apologized and said the first was new and that’s why the mistake was made. She said she could not reverse the charge and she’d call us after manager arrived at 3PM. It’s now 4:50PM and we called (2nd time!). Another receptionist said that we would have to call Expedia to straighten up the problem! And it was the receptionist’s very mistake. Then he said he would try to work on it tonight. Very bad service. You overcharged us $180 and we want our money back. Plain and simple. Why can’t someone do something about this?

Close to where I needed to be

Refrigerator was loud and not cool. Asked to have it checked and no one came. The day I arrived as I was looking for parking there was a dead baby kitten in the back parking lot and I notified the front desk. He said he would have to call animal control. The next morning it was still there and in a worse state as someone ran over a body part. I went to the front desk again and notified the other two men on duty. It was then taken care off.

Visiting NJ from Ohio for a graduation. Stayed at Courtyard by Marriott Montvale in a block of room for out-of-town family members. After a long day’s drive, we checked in to freshen up before meeting family. The room was freezing so we adjusted thermostat. Heater kicked on. Adjusted again to turn heat off, finished freshening up (daughter used a hair dryer/curling iron) and we went on our way. At 11:16 PM, we received an email informing us that the air quality sensor system detected smoking and we would be charged $350. We DO NOT smoke or vape. Tried to dispute the charge to no avail. No one came to the room to verify smoke or evidence of smoking. It’s simply their faulty system versus us. Maybe it was the heater? Maybe it was the hair dryer? But it sure as heck wasn’t smoking. It’s a pretty sad state of affairs to call paying guests liars, but that is, in essence, what was done. Management was not helpful at all, claiming it’s a third-party monitoring system and their hands were tied. Have called their office numerous times only to be given the run-around or to be told managers were unavailable. P.S. The bathroom doors are not solid doors, but rather partial "frosted" windows that you can see through. Yeah, gross. ... oh, and there's a mirror opposite the windows so that anyone in the room can also get a view of the person in the bathroom through the windows. Classy.

So I’m a repeat customer at this location. I spend at least $500 a month in this location between the room and the fire and oak restaurant For months My wife and I come to this location to celebrate her breast cancer battle. I light candles for us in the room to celebrate. I was charged a fee of $350 stating that a room sensor was activated because I was vaping or smoking in the room. I thought I previously discussed this with the manager Michael . So I apologize that you will no longer have my business but I can’t afford to stay at this location
