Carpenters Cottages

The cottage was bigger than expected. Great location on a small village but not too far from Chepstow, Tintern and Monmouth Cottage was clean, warm and had everything needed for a short stay, as in our case, or a long day too. Free parking outside. We stayed in Oak cottage. It is all ground floor. Two bathrooms one which has a bath amd ghe other a vsth. Owners lived nearby and were friendly and helpful. Pub next door currently closed but did not affect us. Small petrol station and village shop nearby

Oak Cottage downstairs apartment - very good layout, especially the kitchen. Nice and cosy. Lovely host. Pub next door is good.

Could do with a few things maintaining and spring clean. You need to take some extra tea towels and dishwasher tablets. An aerial connection to the TV would be handy - it does have a fire stick but took some working out!

Country walks on doorstep, very peaceful

The outside area of the apartment was a death trap , slippery all the way round to the back garden, dogs had access to pub area which wasnt good, the garden and front was full of dog poo, you couldnt go up the steps to the garden safely, the hot water and heating were on a timer switch, not good quality at all,

A great location with the important facilities near buy ie petrol station, village shop, pub. Locals are very helpful and friendly. The cottage was fully equipped so you didn't have to travel with the kitchen sink! Only 15 minutes away from Monmouth which is a great town if you need some retail therapy. Loads of excellent places to eat out.

They are more like apartments than cottages, metal fire escape type stairs to get to the cottage. A little tricky if you have lots of baggage, dogs or young family. Though it didn't detract from it being a lovely place to stay.

Excellent location next to the friendly pub and in a beautiful area a few miles from Chepstow and close to Tintern. Hosts were very pleasant and welcoming. The cottage was spacious, with tasteful decor and well equipped.

The only slight drawback was limited parking in front of the pub during busy opening hours.

Lovely and clean, spacious. The kitchen was great- all the facilities that you'd need and more with the dishwasher and washing machine (we didn't use as only stayed for a short break but would definitely have used if staying longer). The pub next door served great food and everyone was very friendly- there was a good atmosphere.

The entrance was through a gate and up some metal stairs, it was dark at night.

Really nice place

Warm, comfortable, next to the excellent pub! Lovely area for walks.

Nothing to dislike.
