"A great place to stay that needs some maintenance."

7.0

Breakfast was not supplied or implied. The accomodation was excellent but lacking 'necessary maintenance'. The location was 'off the beaten track' but was reasonably priced and was close to where we needed to be and the location is in an area of glorious countryside yet close to interesting places to visit. The meal that we had in the pub was exceptional and the pub was definitely the heart of the village.

The lounge lighting was a little dim for comfortable reading. The Wifi was too weak to use the Amazon fire stick (which uses the TV remote to operate it but we had to ask for the 'firestick remote' to find this out!). With no connection for an aerial we had no TV and only use of the dvd's available at the property. The pub has BT wifi with their small wifi extender discs so why doesn't the accomodation have one, if the 2 buildings are linked? There was no dishcloth in the kitchen to wipe surfaces with etc, kitchen roll or sufficient cups / mugs for 4 unless 1 person had a different drinking vessel to the other 3. The corner shower bar control valve was dangerous as the water flow from it was a choice of either too hot or scalding and therfore unuseable. The 'cartridge' must be at the end of it's safe useable life and the controls were both loose, but they are not the reason that the temperature of the water is too hot unless the cartridge has become incorrectly set because the control has been loose enough for the control to have been moved but it would have had to have been moved against it's splines. In the same bathroom the sink taps drip constantly wasting water. In the other bathroom the leak from the shower screen has to be fixed before the sodden flooring collapses and someone has an accident.
