Carpenters Cottages

Very good location, well placed for visiting Monmouth and other towns and villages. Good walks from the property with excellent views on a clear day. Laminate flooring throughout, easy to keep clean when you have a dog as we do. Very quiet.

We were in the upper half of the building, which was accessed by 13 stairs. This surprised me but maybe I had not read the information properly. It was not a problem to us and the stair case is very sturdy with a landing half way.

Settee, it was a bed settee, and the cushions you were sitting on kept coming off, also no oven gloves

The cottage was clean cosy and well equipped. Good provision of plenty of towels and crockery and cutlery everything was available to ensure a comfortable stay. The cottage was lovely and warm with plenty of heating appliances. Landlady was very friendly and welcoming and the food in the pub was very tasty.

Pub could be a little noisy late at night as the cottages were very close to the smoking area outside.We also did not realise that there would be an extra charge of £25 for our dog when we booked pet friendly accommodation through booking.com, we thought that was in the total price when we booked the accommodation.

Spacious, very modern, comfy beds

Construction around the back (new houses) and front road resurfacing - obviously not the fault of the host. Front shower very hot - couldn't be adjusted much.

Hosts were friendly and helpful and location was great for exploring the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. We were comfortable and well looked after and liked having the pub next door.

Would only add 1 or 2 things like maybe a sieve and a basic radio in the kitchen.
